I’m currently finishing my PhD while raising a toddler, and I feel like I’m failing at both about 90% of the time. My male advisor keeps talking about grind culture and staying in the lab until midnight, which is just physically impossible for me. Is it actually possible to reach the top of a field without sacrificing your personal life entirely? Or are we just pretending that the all-in culture isn't inherently biased against parents?

I have received my first offer letter which they wanted me to accept by e- signing it and after i did that theh have sent out form 11 and other documents to be filled in 2 days.
I have never filled form 11 and other personal details untill 1 week before my joining date.

My joining date would be after my notice period which is usually 2 months.
Should I share the person details and form 11 they asked for now itself?
Will it be a problem if i don't wish to join the company later

So coming up to my 3 years at UK KPMG Audit, and I got an offer from a food delivery tech company (think Ubereats, Deliveroo, Doordash etc) for a performance analyst type role which monitors/reports metrics for the Operations.

I'm interested in tech and thought this was a possible to foot in the door for future financial roles in tech.

Was wondering if anyone has thoughts on such roles or...is it a dead end approach.

What do you do for winter shoes and commuting?

I walk a total ~20 mins in between train/bus stations and then getting from the stop in the loop to the office.

What do I do come wintertime for boots? Do you wear them while you're in the office? Or do you bring dress shoes with you to change in to? I wear a suit to work, so what boots would be good for winter but also look decent with a suit? This is my first winter in Chicago (a socal transplant)
