Left my consulting job after 2.25 years in October 2019 for a venture backed startup. Laid off in March 2020. Joined a VC fund as an intern shorty after, but our fundraise (for our fund) got pushed back. I was approached about helping grow a small executive recruitment firm focused on private technology companies. I’ll be chief of staff. The company takes $150k/placement + equity. The co expects to hit $1m in rev this year. They also invest in startups. Should I do it? Is this pigeonholing?
Anyone else have a terrible attitude about PA after being so fired up as an intern? I feel like I’m not alone when I say I absolutely hate audit with a fiery passion.
Recruiter reached out about a role at a company I was fired from as an intern. The role is in another department than where I originally worked. This was 3 years ago.... do I have a shot?
is it possible to be fired as an intern
How long is too long to be an intern? I've been interning for about a 1 year and half now at 4 different agencies. All extended me until I'd leave for another agency. I was told bad timing/layoffs
There's a Pwc intern getting fired somewhere
Intern hire set to start Oct (Healthcare/MC)... All the layoff posts have me a bit concerned, and has me considering other options. Am I overreacting?
I’ve been laid off due to lost business. Struggling to find junior strategist positions and agencies that hire at that level, not many do. Should I stick with what I enjoy or consider account?
MFW I turn in all my stuff to Deloitte after getting laid off and the IT guy says "congratulations!" as I'm leaving
So, just what did Nick Emery do to get fired? ‘Prank gone wrong on zoom’ is all I’m hearing
What does a standard/typical severance package look like? My agency had some layoffs recently and so I’m trying to be mindful.
Anyone think it's odd how few goodbye emails we have gotten this round? Supposedly 15% of advisory is getting the boot... Expected more based on February FS layoffs
So what was the text message that got them fired? https://goingconcern.com/kpmg-u-k-s-whatsapp-fiasco-claims-two-more-partners/
Why do D layoffs target newer people? I know of several people with great reviews + high utilization but less than 1 year tenure and were let go. Whereas some with several years of tenure but mediocre/good ratings still have a job.
What are the weirdest reasons you have heard for people being laid-off? Heard someone getting laid off because of submitting wack expenses.
Dan, now is the time! Announce no job cuts at Deloitte so all staff can focus on their work!
New Hires/College grads who were laid off from IBM GBS in Spring 2018. Where are you today? And how do you feel about IBM now? For context, back then, IBM overhired a significant amount of young professionals and let go a sizable chunk of them. They also almost postponed start dates for the class of 2018 by a year. As a result, IBM has been blacklisted by many universities from OCR.
Deloitte tax projecting double digit (percentage) decrease to top and bottom line for FY21 - at least our office / region. Based on that, layoffs seem necessary. Fortunate that the folks laid off hit the market first; if the revenue decrease is truly that significant, have to imagine all other firms will be making the same difficult decisions.
If you’re laid off for being a poor performer (nothing egregious, just poorer than average scores) will that typically come up in a routine background check for a new employer?
When your president wants to bring in outside media professionals to audit your plans, do you quit? Are you getting fired? Anyone hiring?!
I also just got laid off! My last day is in 2 weeks. How do I tell someone who just texted me for some deliverables that I don’t want to do them because I’m laid off?
Any more word on the PwC Forensics layoffs? It appears to be going on in multiple markets.
Hi peeps- got laid off last week from PwC because of 72% utilization. Am on H1B visa. Any tips on companies where I can apply? Also, can I negotiate severance options with HR?
Hearing talks of layoffs in federal today. Anyone else hearing this? May be just a coincidence.

ATL ACD openings anywhere?
My teammate is leaving for a new opportunity soon and I will be floating by myself for a few months. Would anyone be able to provide me with any solid books that pertain to our field? I'm open to anything for creative, people manager 101, digital marketing, career motivating, etc. Trying to swim along to find my new normal and be self motivated.
Venting- I’m 5 weeks pregnant. All my clothes feel awful. Bloated out of my mind. Emotional. Want to be alone but work “summit” is happening. I’m anxious for it to stick. Can’t talk about it. 😫😫😫😫
Has anyone been sent a package from Hilton for hitting 100 nights? I received an email from FedEx that a Hilton address was sending a package, within a week of hitting 100 nights on the year.
So I just joined this company about 1.5 months ago, have had a loss in the family so took three bereavement days. Was planning on taking the day off and spending time with my partners family July 2 but on a call we just had, seems like no one else on my direct team is taking any days off leading up to the holiday. Would this make me look bad for taking that day off?/having already taken three days since I joined?
A KPMG recruiter set up a time to chat about a job opportunity (I didn’t apply for the role; they reached out to me on their own), but they totally ghosted me! They set up a time to chat with me and asked for my resume, but never called me and didn’t respond to my messages. What gives?🖕 KPMG
Anyone have connections in JPMC’s corporate social responsibility department? Have a role I’m applying for
Interview process for Deloitte? SC
How long should it take after a final round EH interview with BCG to hear back on the decision? Do chances start to diminish with time.
Have to say one of the best things I did this year was getting an Amazon Prime subscription
"You're going to sit around a lot, eat like crap and put on weight." Must have missed that lesson in portfolio school.
I was on a partner/manager call today and they were discussing the “high” turnover at the senior and experienced associate level. What was shocking is that while ours is about double normal, evidently we are 3 out of 4 in turnover meaning 2 of the Big 4 are even higher.
90% of managers are hands on and awesome, pick up the slack when needed! But that 10% that sit there with nothing to do asking you where everything is at once.. common that doesn't motivate anyone!
If you're negotiating a start date with a new firm and you need to give your current firm 2 weeks and want some time to yourself before starting, but you already have a vacation planned in the early fall, is it an issue to take 2-3 weeks before starting as long as you're clear that you have a pre-planned trip?
