I’m never satisfied with my gifts for my team around the holidays. What’s a good $50-75 gift I can get my Direct reports - a group of men and women, VPs and Exec Directors, many are NYC based, with varied interests and age groups?! 🤷🏽‍♀️ In years’ past I did the classic food gift basket, fancy cookies, and another dessert. Would love some kind of useful tech or gadget? Bonus points for creativity!

The person I report to has gotten us personalized fun times (one year was fun holiday themed pajama onesies, this year was a Patagonia zip up - he gets our names embroidered) and one year was like a gift basket of things local to his home town, which was really nice.

He asks us our sizes. The pajamas were purposely oversized and we all got like a one-size XL. The local stuff was like honey, chocolate etc that was local to his area. All nice gifts!

Honestly, an Amazon gift card. Easy and everyone loves Amazon.

I gift donation dollars to my team that they can use to donate to the cause of their choice. We use BrightFunds at my company.

Love that. One year I donated in their name but they didn’t pick where. I don’t know how much they loved it. But I can do that !

Travel toiletry kit, charcuterie board - there’s some inexpensive nice ones on Amazon, Yeti mug and lid, travel cord organizer and backup charger, gift cards for food delivery like Uber Eats

Nice yeti bottles or straw cups- I get them for my team every year and they use the heck out of them, I see them on every call.

What about using a site like snack magic and setting your price limit and allowing them to create their own box? Theres snacks, small beauty and personal care items, and more

smart

Do you gift up?

To my leadership? Sometimes I’ll donate to a cause in their name. But I’m not planning to this year. (Note I’m an svp, this fishbowl title is outdated)

I would personally go for something office (or home office?) related; nice stationary, customized pens, planners if you know what they like… company tees/polos and hoodies go over really well with my teams!

No that’s very true; it is implied that it’s the company… I had assumed this was a corporate gift! Actually your company may not appreciate their logo being used without their input, so proceed with caution.

My teams travel, so jackets and polos go over really well in a company-approved kind of context. Maybe it would be less appreciated as a personal gift?

Donation to the "human fund". If you get it, you get it! ;)

Seinfeld reference:)

I was going to say something basic like a gift card but one year I was gifted a blend jet and it was the best small gift that I felt made an impact. I’m big into health/wellness but good gift for anyone really.

Need a read on this.

MM shop, inv team role, I did a final round last week (my XXth IV so far) with one of the GPs. I honestly thought it went great. Haven’t heard a thing since though. Recruiter thinks I’m still in it cause of Christmas-Hol.

What do we think: Am I still in it or not a chance?

Morning all. I am looking for a favour/solid advice. I've been in the interview process for a dream role over the past month or so and just found out I didn't get the job after final round 🙃.

Unfortunately this isn't the first time this has happened during the past year searching. Looking for a SC level role within healthcare/public sector consulting firm. I know the job scene is a bit miserable currently but if anyone in the bowl is aware of a role I would love to have a chat.

Thanks all

I’m in-house at a small company (60 people), started right out of law school about 5 years ago. We had a legal team of 5 then. Everyone has left and we just hired a new GC. I went from $70k to $100k a little over a year ago. I am expecting an offer from a firm doing business law work but think this might be an opportunity to go to my current employer and ask for a significant raise, with new offer in hand. Any thoughts or advice going into this?
