I'm someone who believes that people can handle x amount of stimuli, so logically if you take away a source of stimuli you have more room to deal with other aspects of your life.
Also, the acknowledgment of your situation and the first steps will probably be experienced as hopeful, which will give a boost to your mood. Opinions on stimuli that is removable besides work?
