I'm the top performer on my sales team, but I actually don't like sales! I came from managing teams in a different industry. I thought I'd prove myself here, then move back to leadership, but now they won't promote me because I drive too much revenue. My boss literally said, "Why fix what isn't broken?" I'm going crazy! Advice?

I mean, if they aren't willing to listen to what you want, I might be worth looking elsewhere. I hate to say that because it's easier said than done, but you have to do what's in your best interest and if you don't like it, you don't like it.

What your boss said does make sense, if things are going well, why mess with them? Seriously, if you really don't like what you're doing you'll have to find a graceful way to pivot out of it. If you can't get promoted in your current organization get serious about finding a position elsewhere.

Has anyone else worked two programming roles at one time?
I currently work as a Contracted Software Engineer and I’m set to finish my contracted time at the end of October. To stay ahead of game I started to move forward in the interview process with another opportunity as an Application Software Programmer and just received notification that I got the position. I definitely could use the extra paycheck to help out with my financial obligations. Just wanted to see if anyone has done this before.
