Yes, Indian guy was hired and I took his info - this is a family owned company and they wanted an intern to do some tech work.
The guy in the photo is not the guy that was in the hideaway office. The shape of his head was not the same and some other features were off.
Took it to the manager and he shrugged and said we need this work done - it’s just for the summer.
Also had a mgr call me, same company and say when I tried to enter this guy in the system it says he already works here.
I coached him to bring the new hire and the guy who worked their already into his office and share the SSN and name and ask what’s going on.
They both looked at each other and said - Who sold you that SSN.
Fired the guy that worked there for 7 years.
It’s real…. and everyone needs to be diligent. That’s why work from home is a security issue for some companies.
Corporations have brought this on themselves, their greed has run the economy into the ground and driven people to desperation. I have no sympathy.

Happened all the time at a big corp I worked for when we were sourcing through one of the top three Indian firms. The only difference is that it wasn’t for loans or anything, it was just to inflate hiring and contract numbers for the firm.
Damn this new
Please which country is this??? I seeeee. Now this explains why I have a lot of Indian recruiters flooding my LinkedIn telling me about jobs and asking that I send my resume first! And then you do t see them anymore. They use these resumes to apply on their client’s behalf. I just tune off whenever someone is asking I send in my resume at first contact!!!
I just knew it. I knew something is off….. the pattern is there!
Wait so a group of people pass themselves off as one person to pass the interviews and do the job well enough to continue working there? I’m not fully grasping the downside with the work getting done and the agreed salary getting paid?
Not sure why they need to do this to get jobs. Maybe it allows flexibility. Maybe they all have strengths that when combined together make them better than they are separately. Maybe it allows them to work multiple jobs at once and hedge against a turbulent economy and at will employment.
The better question is, if they are getting the salary they want and the company is getting the work done for the pay that they want, then what’s the issue? It may not be a traditional arrangement, but everybody is getting what they want out of it
It was very prevalent during the pandemic. We’ve definitely been catfished at my company. It didn’t take long to figure it out, but longer than it should’ve. I work remotely 100% and have never had to have my photo taken, so who’s to say I am who I am? I am, but IJS.
