Is it normal to be threatened to be fired after making mistakes that you had no idea were mistakes in the first place?
Horrible anxiety about considering a new job....
I was one of the big firm stealth layoffs in covid and joined a boutique firm in Sept. They came sort of close to matching my salary but I moved to SoCal and have an opportunity to jump back in to big law and get $100k raise. The people at the small firm are so nice, but hours are nuts and if I’m going to work this much, I might as well get paid more, right? Is it too soon? How do you tell them when the managing partner took you under his wing?
I was let go from my position yesterday. The managing partner, who did the letting go, said it as because of poor development and bad work product. Yet, only in December, I got a solid raise and excellent bonus for my size firm. Between then, the partner had made unsupported claims of bad work (e.g., claimed I used the wrong code in a letter bc it wasn’t the one he told me to use but the one the documents supported). Never dreamed of being “fired.” All partners are holding the party line and ...
Sooo we just had a town hall with the managing partner/CEO and I don't know if it was intentional, but the background was his MASSIVE, palatial country/vacation house. Am I wrong for feeling that this he was a bit out of touch? Especially since many of us associates are still scrambling for work and we're under constant fear of being laid off.
Had a glowing fantastic performance review last year. This year no review, just a meeting with managing partner and HR to tell me I am fired and to leave now. No bad performance. Is it just the money?
Just heard of the story of a senior who was fired because she was interviewing at a new firm, and this new firm called her current firm for references. Obviously they (cont’d)...
I’ve been laid off and, as I embark on my job search, I’d like to keep my marketing skills sharp. Any recommendations on must read books, or resources?
Show of hands; who has been laid off because your agency lost a big client?
Also, when you interviewed for your next job did you feel comfortable saying that? And do other agencies understand?
Just learnt that one VP in my client (ibank) suddenly disappeared (laid off). Which is very scary as her work is good, what is the most scary laid off story you have heard?
Do you “like” or congratulate someone to their new job on LinkedIn that you fired from your team just prior? Nice / professional or macabre / rubbing it in?
Started working a week after graduating last May. Was on track to be one of the top staff performers and then COVID hit. Since working from home I am one of the lowest performers. Anxiety and stress are crippling my ability to succeed. I have social anxiety which makes wfh communication extremely difficult.
Managers - how much patience would you have with someone who was doing well pre-pandemic but has been struggling ever since? Should I start planning for a new job? (In case I get fired)
I was laid off from Deloitte in the 18th. I have an interview with Amazon for a Senior Program Managers Non Technical position with Amazon hiring manager on Monday. Any advice would be much appreciated. I would love to get into Amazon. I hear their interview process is brutal.
A couple of months ago I was hired by Amazon as an Automation Engineer, but got fired after a week due to a positive drug test during the medical visit that is done during the first days.
Anyone have a sense of why Deloitte got hit so hard by layoffs? I’ve heard four potential reasons:
1. Client mix / type of work
3. Over hired in anticipation of growth
4. Partners didn’t want to take a haircut
Just curious! From an external perspective, seems like they cut way more than the other firms.
Why does PwC need layoffs again if the business is doing well?
Also, curious to know what are the other “business reasons” when your util and snapshots are great?
Anyone here familiar with the hiring process of KPMG consulting in Van? Had a partner interview on Nov 21, thought the feedback was positive but haven't heard back yet (no rejection/offer). Is it something normal or the interview just didn't go as well as I thought?
It's an experienced hire for an SC role. I saw the posting is still open atm, and my guess is that the recruiting team is comparing candidates since competition is higher due to recent layoffs.
Thanks in advance!
I’m a Junior accountant, recent MBA grad in Finance, located in NYC, just got laid off due to a merger. Anybody hiring or know any opening positions?
Laid off. Wha wha. Anyone hiring out there?
Meeting with just HR tomorrow, likely to get fired. I thought there would be a partner involved but guess not? Performance issues.
Projects are sized with an aggressive timeline. However clients will take their time to respond, meet since they know they won’t get fired easily for not prioritizing the project (as they have the actual day job to focus on). How does Partner just blindly accept this fact and still want an aggressive timeline? On paper they’d say it’s client issue but still want it done ‘on time’, on budget.
What is the average time an employee gets before one gets fired after being put in the Performance Improvement Program (PIP)?
I have an offer and want to negotiate
1. London base salary but I have to absorb all the expenses (train + stay)
I am thinking to negotiate to
2. home base salary and have my expenses paid for
I know that's depends on the amount I have to travel (and potentially stay) but at the moment this is unknown. Past 8 months was just twice a month + 2 nights stay.
The only thing I know is it won't be every week, the return trian ticket is about £80-100, depends I could plan ahead.
My company tasked me with finding a new applicant tracking system. Currently, I've counted about 100 different companies with very little information on their sites.
I need some real user recommendations. We do high volume recruiting for mostly manufacturing with 5 locations that average about 20-40 applications a week.
Do you really enjoy your ATS and why?
Book recommendations for a 6 year old space nerd? (Those targeting a slightly higher age group are fine too… she is a good reader, really loves space related topics and my general philosophy around books is that she will grow into it if it’s a tad bit challenging right now)
What are some signs that your GF has a controlling personality? GF made a remark to me that she’s looking for someone who jumps when she says jump, and that she wishes I wouldn’t “talk back” to her when I provide an opinion that is the opposite of hers. I want to confront her about some of these remarks, but I oftentimes don’t feel it’s worth it b/c I know she’ll blow up and get defensive which would only make me angrier and more frustrated. I want things to work out, but I need advice…
how do we get out?! i’ve been doing office work in a grocery store for too long… this was supposed to help me transition out of hospitality but it feels like i’m going to be stuck in a grocery store for the rest of my career
i guess i just need to voice my frustrations. it’s not that i hate my job or the field, i don’t. i’m just feeling extremely overwhelmed and discouraged i think. does anyone really, truly enjoy what they do in retail/hospitality?? needing some positivity
Recently found out our 10 month old golden retriever puppy has the Addison’s disease and wife and I are bummed! Not because of why us, but out of abundance of love for him. Anyone here experience this disease with their pets? We are getting his tests done and are told he’d be on a prescription drug all his life 😞
Hi, I have an offer with BA continuum as Team Lead for Mumbai location, can I ask HR for change of location to Gurugram?

When do you think the real estate market demand will start to stutter as aftermath of all the volatility in stock market?
SF BayArea housing is still super hot w/ each good house with multiple offers.
At a firm, and starting a fully remote secondment at a client soon. Would appreciate any tips for working effectively with in-house folks!
Hi, Not pregnant yet but a big time planner. When do you think would be the optimal time to tell my manager about a pregnancy? I’m currently way behind on my targets and my company is undergoing a restructuring. I’m of two minds about it. On one hand, a known pregnancy might “protect” me from being let go but on the other hand, telling them sooner could give them more time to figure out how to let me go ahead of mat leave. Love to get some thoughts on this! Thanks
Hey Los Angeles,
How much does a VP of content make? How much does a VP of marketing & communications make?
Is this normal? I need to adjust the way I see life.
I met this guy online and we clicked right away, started talking everyday and seeing each other. We talked about future plans but he told me from the start how he struggles talking about serious topics and I need to give a push.
I realized he never talks about the past. So I decided to know about his past, has he been into hook-up culture (which if you're for, u do u but I dont appreciate it especially at my age)
Continued in comment.
Anyone know anything about Petrol in Burbank?

Been in consulting for 10 years and I wake up every day thinking I’ve had enough. But rising living costs make it so hard to quit this rat race. Anyone feel the same?
