I've been coding and doing simulations for 15+ years - that's what I love about engineering! But it seems like most engineers quickly move into management roles. I chose engineering partly because I'm not great at public speaking or networking (unlike law or business). So why do so many engineers want to manage instead of staying technical? Are hands-on engineers like me becoming rare because of outsourcing or just aging out? Thoughts?
