Ladies- I’m a planning a bachelorette for the close friend, and she expects to pay for her portion of everything. Another friend who is helping with planning thinks we the attendees should cover all of the brides costs. I’m not sure what’s normal—any thoughts?

I would say, let her think she’s paying her share for everything, and then decide whether you want to treat her to something (ie dinner is on us!). It’s all over the map in terms of what people do. I have also seen the bride pick up the cost to rent the house herself, when it was an expensive bachelorette party out of town and she didn’t want it to be too much of a burden for people.

You do what is agreed upon by your friend group and the bride. A bachelorette night out is different than a bachelorette trip that’s domestic or international. Be upfront about expenses so everyone knows what to expect and when to pay. Good luck!

I’ve had international ones where we split an Airbnb cost and food/drinks for the bride. I’d never do that again because it was a headache getting everyone to contribute their share and everyone wasn’t friends separately, it was the bride’s friends assembled for the trip.

Bride covers her travel/accommodations/major activities ($150+), but friends decorate and share costs of groceries, meals out, drinks, etc.

It depends on how long and elaborate the bachelorette is in my experience, and the friend group. If she plans to cover her portion I think it is ok, and she may be factoring in financial concerns of friends. A nice happy medium is to perhaps cover her share of an Airbnb for a domestic/shorter stay and/or cover her meal/beverages for a major dinner and/or brunch + the hosts covering decor and snacks for the group?

We usually plan ahead of time what all we will cover. X amount per person goes in the pot for the bride’s expenses. She covers the rest

I’ve never covered anything for a Bride during a bachelorette besides maybe drinks while out or any gifts I wanted to give her. I’m from a different country and my friends are pretty international, but if anything the bride covers some costs under the wedding budget since it’s their wedding and they’re the reason you’re going on this trip (like the rental home or a dinner/table for the club, etc).

Everyone pays for themselves and themselves only.

Hey All! I was recently laid off in November as part of a company mass layoff. I'm really taking this opportunity to shoot for a Director level position in Marketing. (I've been a marketing professional for over 10 years). I've had one or two direct reports and I really enjoying coaching and mentorship and I've been told I am very creative and strategic able to move projects from conception to creation to execution. Any tips on how to break into this type of role?
