Currently in a middle market position analyzing companies and underwriting credit memos, etc. that kind of work. I really want to shift to a role in real estate as a financial analyst helping with deals. I have an undergrad in finance, masters in business analytics and working on the CFA level 1. Any suggestions on companies and roles I should look at for real estate analyst roles?

I’m really unhappy in audit. Not only is it the hours during busy season, but I just have no interest in audit work and find it really tedious/boring. I want to transition to either a Finance role (FP&A/Financial Analyst) in industry or into a finance consulting role (such as valuations). I’m interested in financial modeling and working on forward-looking aspects of a business. Should I talk to my Career Advisor about how I’m unhappy in audit or should I just look for opportunities elsewhere?

I have two years of internal audit experience in a 500 company and I am relocating to a financial analyst role within the company. However, I think I still need the public accounting experience in big4 to get a long-term competency. I want to apply big 4 staff auditor after I pass the rest two CPA exams. I know I can’t get the experienced auditor position since I don’t have public accounting experience. I had my master in accounting. Will I be qualified for the entry level auditor in big4?
Currently looking to leave audit for a Senior Financial Analyst or FP&A position in the media/entertainment/music industry. I am interviewing for a senior financial analyst position and the recruiter says they’re getting ready to make me an offer. I am not very familiar with the company and there’s not a lot of info available about them. Should this be a red flag for me or is it common to jump into an unknown company?

Hi! I received an offer as a financial analyst for $86k base in Seattle (with stock options and bonus, annual income will be ~$110k). However, right now I’m making $115k base comp in SF as senior tax associate. I think H1B doesn’t care about total comp package, just base salary - will it be difficult to transfer the h1b to a lower salary position? Thank you!

Currently an A3 in assurance. I have two job offers: senior financial analyst (FP&A role) and senior accountant. Similar pay (a little over 40% raise), similar benefits. Will taking one of the offers limit me to just those types of roles going forward or would there still be an opportunity to do the other later on?
I have an excel test coming up for a financial analyst interview at a tech company. The role’s daily responsibilities don’t involve building LBO nor DCF models, etc. More focused on FP&A forecasting. What should I brush up on in addition to pivot tables, and v/hlookup? Ty

I used a referral to apply to some financial analyst roles. I like how recruiters are willing to personally decline you which opens a dialogue on criticism. I was given resources on improving resumes and interview skills. It seems my resume is in good shape according to the recruiter but I can’t seem to land an interview. Is there anything else left besides a referral and a good resume to get through? I feel like being from the east coast applying to west coast roles is a factor

Looking to create a tool we can use for stakeholder relationship tracking. We want to be able to hear a clients name, look them up in the tool, see info about their role and department, and see which of our consultants have worked with them before and on what projects. Trying to think of an easy to use, interactive tool beyond something like excel. What’s something you’ve used for this before? Don’t think we’ll be going as far as purchasing a license for a CRM software

I’ve been through 5+ weeks of interviews with a company that will IPO next year and they did a bait and switch on me with the offer: it was advertised as “Head of” and then during the offer-walk-through-meeting today they said “oh btw we changed the title to ‘Senior Manager’ for this role”. They offered me a salary I made 4 years ago as a manager. They offered stock options with an exercise price TBD 1 year from now…which is when they’re hitting IPO. Is that normal for stock options?

Guilty! Being the interviewee recently has taught me what I failed to do as an interviewer. 1Outline your hiring process/timeline. Simple but oft overlooked. Tell them how many people they’ll be meeting, when u aim to shortlist, when u aim to hire. Communicate- someone is probably intensely waiting for any word. They may miss other opportunities for u. 2 Closure! Surprising how many places don’t let u know when they’ve moved on from u! 3 Can u offer helpful advice for them? 4 Reply to all.

Anyone else getting sick of the grind and seriously considering a career move? What are you looking to do next?
Really bummed lately searching for an exit opportunity. 80% of recruiters reaching out to me are from other consulting firms, the other 20% end up falling short on comp expectations. I’m reading a lot of success stories here and it’s encouraging, but I couldn’t help feeling like a loser, not even seeing any of those offers in my current world. I feel like I’ll be stuck in consulting unless I take a 30-50k payout :(
