Manager let’s you know Thursday afternoon before the long weekend of Friday-Monday, that they want you to travel and be in office Tuesday morning meaning travel Monday night (holiday) and stay till Friday night.
Thoughts? Reasonable?

“I am unable to travel on Monday and can take the earliest flight Tuesday morning.” You got to stand up for yourselves where reasonable. From the little information on Manager you provided, I can guess that your situation is something similar to mine: you have a vibrant personal life and use work as a mean to fund that and your Manager doesn’t have much of a personal life and draws their self worth from work hence the want to be in office the day after a long weekend

This is happened to me, as I joined a new team. I’m flying out early tomorrow morning, it’s not ideal but we’ve all flown on Sunday afternoon at some point for a Monday morning client meeting. That’s how I see it

Flying Monday morning is ideal. Sunday night is somewhat reasonable. Sunday afternoon is pretty pretty trash. Idk why people put up with it tbh

Don’t do it! They will keep taking advantage of you and you’ll be miserable. Offer up something reasonable/fair but stand your ground. This is called managing up

Psss, idk if you know but you're not posting anonymously right now

In life, sometimes these expectations and events arise, it seems that you should take these events as good omens in order to have a better mood. Surrender yourself to life and see what it has planned for you.

Ask for a thank you note for travelling. Keep the note and build up a library of them. Document going the extra mile. It will help with raises and promotions.

yeah don’t fly monday. let them know you’ll be on a tuesday AM flight. that’s protected time <3

How do I be a decent manager to a coworker who's upset I've been promoted twice in two years and they haven't? We started out as coworkers, became decent friends after a few good moments, but went back to simply coworkers after they flubbed a few projects and I had to step in to clean up. I'm non-confrontational but year-end reviews are right around the corner and I'm worried about having to act professional to someone who I got too close with and who now hates me.
