I absolutely do not engage during PTO. I put my away message on with alternate contacts and 2 weeks out from PTO I put “upcoming PTO” and dates in red in my email footer and email everyone on my team to remind them. The day before PTO I send my team a list of open items. I also shut off notifications from outlook / teams while on PTO so I don’t get any reminders of work while I’m out.
Yes I've seen a lot of my coworkers fall into this trap, feeling like they still need to be available. I never opened the door for that so my boundaries are clear. Never too late to start putting that wall back up.
I feel the same way. I've been working hybrid for about a year now, and even on the days I'm in office, I still feel pressured to respond to after-hours emails, pings, notifications, etc. I don't really know the best way to combat this. I know I'm well within my rights to turn off notifications once the clock hits 5, but I'm still hesitant to do so...
