Ask them to help by submitting resumes. Let them fill out applications and fix what you’re doing “wrong”, then see what you’re going through. It’s hard to understand how crazy this job market without having submitted tons of applications for jobs you’re a perfect fit for, then getting the generic “thanks but…” emails.
That's right!
Tell them that it’s a really hard job market — and that they better brace themselves because it’s going to be tight for a while. See if they would like to figure out away to help in the meantime. Family means supporting each other through the rough. They are lucky they have you. Period.
I’m very sorry you’re going through this. You can always tell your parents that they’re crippling you for life by demanding to support them and their lifestyle (unless they’re super old and/or disabled) without providing you with opportunity to establish yourself financially first
Like really. I’ve been through this and it’s unhealthy and unreasonable. They treat you like an investment instead of a child. And they simply manipulate you
Remember: your worth isn’t defined by how quickly you find work. The job market is tough right now, and it’s okay to move at your own pace. If you haven’t already, try gently explaining to your parents how competitive things are, and that you’re doing everything you can. Keep reminding yourself that looking for a job is by itself a full-time hustle. You’re not failing them, and you’re not failing yourself.
