I don't like the sound of that. I agree with PWC. Look up the company on every possible platform, make sure the email is coming from their own domain if it is legitimate, and don't fill out the background check until you've got everything in writing.

Even if the company is legit, you should also call the company to verify that the offer is from an actual employee. I had someone call and leave a voicemail claiming to be from my local police department and when I called the police department directly they said that they didn’t have anyone on staff with the name provided. Be careful! Good luck!
