Currently at EY for corporate real estate consulting, but would like to pursue strategy as opposed to implementation. Bain & McK have CRE practices; is a jump from B4 to MBB unlikely? Didn’t apply to either directly from college

Is now a terrible time to try and lateral within consulting at the Senior Consultant level? Looking at T2 and MBB. I have referrals lined up at the firms I’m most interested in but I have yet to apply. Are firms still hiring? FYI I’m in Supply Chain/Manufacturing tech and strategy.

Where there's a will, there's a way, so asking for advice from people who have actually made this happen. How did you do it? Hardcore solo research? Tapping into contacts for resume reviews? Working with a coach? Please share whatever resources you found helpful. Also, would love to hear the pros/cons of your recommendation vs. other approaches. Thank you!

I'm seeking a transition from a high-growth Tech Scale-up to VC or PE. I'm armed with two years of Product Manager and, before that, 1 year in MBB; plus I've tackled extensive commercial due-diligence for targets anywhere from $50M - $500M - any idea to make this ambition a reality? Grateful for all advice.

Did engineering for undergrad and have an analytics/data science background.

I’m hoping to pivot to consulting in the short term with a preference for MBB and plan B would be tech/LDP at a consumer product company. Long term would like to have a sustainability component to my work.

Been working on a plan and making connections to move from ACN consulting to PE pre-MBA.

My experience/background is predominantly management consulting & strategy-type engagements. However, I know that ACN is non-target unlike MBB.

Curious to know if there are any others who have made this switch, and/or if this seems doable? In my opinion, the right connections can make anything possible but feel free to reality-check. I know this is a supportive bowl, so any tips or advice welcome too!

It’s rare to see MBB or Big4 folks shift to boutiques. It seems like there would be upside (less travel, more leadership opportunities, ability to focus / gain industry focused expertise, similar and maybe better comp) but this doesn’t seem to be a common path. Other than the perception of lower prestige, hard to see downsides. What am I missing?

Hello all MBB friends - I saw in the bowl before that for McKinsey NY office, it is about 60% H/W, 20% CBS and 20% other schools. Is this also similar at BCG and Bain? So if post MBA goal is to work at MBB in NYC, I am guessing that CBS has a slight advantage compared to Booth as predominant portion of Booth grads will be recruited to work at Chicago office?

How is experience at Alvarez & Marsal - PEPI (private equity performance improvement) group viewed by MBB? Senior associate with 1.5 yoe at A&M within ops + 4 yoe in industry. Do I have a chance to lateral to MBB and what position can I lateral to?

I’ve been in a corporate/internal strategy role for 1.5 years after M7-MBA. I’ve been in a very toxic team and I want to get out. I’ve started looking for jobs and noticed that there are not many consultant/associate level type of roles. My team has demoralized me to the point I don’t think I’m ready for MBB and a friend at MBB said they want to get out too. Any advice on what kind of jobs to look for post this exp of strategy? Feel lost.

Has anyone moved from MBB to PE ops and regretted it? Expecting to get an offer for ~1.5x current comp and seriously considering it.

Genuine curious - do we have any CBS J term students who got into MBB? I know for J term you really cant apply for summer internship so most likely will have to apply directly and wonder how that exp was and how tough it really is to get the spot wout summer internship.
