Hi, I hope everyone's having a good Sunday and staying safe! A little nervous about posting here but here it goes! I started an instagram page to showcase some amazing Asian talents and their work in our industry.
I'd love to see more representation of Asians in our industry, especially at leadership level. I wanted to create a place where we can empower, support, and inspire each other.

Stay safe out there!
I have my last working day at IBM GBS in the month of july. Wanted to ask what documents should I carry to the office for asset return, what documents I will receive on my last working day and which ones I will receive after my lwd? Any action item to be done before my lwd apart from returning id badge and laptop ? IBM

While the pay and retirement would be awesome, the way it becomes your entire life doesn’t interest me at all. There are so many demands from clients and the firm it still feels like you’re not in control.
You really have to enjoy the work. I love building relationships and collaborating it doesn’t seem like a box to check, so you have to evaluate if you enjoy the partner track or engagement track (or SME)
That is a part that is intriguing for me. When I talk to the partners I am close with, I look at it like I could totally see myself doing that. Would you see yourself more likely to go the partner track or SME track?
The idea of making partner sounds great, but when you really dig into the commitment it requires, it can feel overwhelming. I’ve been thinking a lot about work-life balance and personal goals, and sometimes the partner route just doesn’t align with those. What’s making you rethink it?
It’s kind of the same for me, being about work life balance. As I get closer to having kids I just can’t imagine giving up the time with them for silly things at work. Does the WLB ultimately outweigh the benefits of the partner track for you?
At the end of the day it boils down to how much you like sales. At a certain seniority if you can’t perform you’ll be stuck
Exactly, that’s why I’m really thinking about other paths longer term. Who knows, maybe I’ll get there, but right now it doesn’t feel right.
I would hate to be a partner. the ones I see have no life / semblance of control on their lives because work is always #1 and can be so demanding
That’s been my observation since I first started. After a while I started to think it wasn’t that bad but I really can’t stomach that lack of balance and personal life.
