I just joined a new company that has many offices. I’m in Canada and plan to move to US eventually. I wasn’t planning to but it came out in my meeting with my new manager. How screwed am I? Does this look like I’m planning my out already?

How do I explain that everything that was listed in job posting at my current position is not what the company has been having me do? I put in my resume what was posted because I know I capable of these requirements. Also what I have been doing doesn't coincide with what they are paying me. Ie I'm being severely over paid.

Partners in public accounting... any tips on making it to partner? Is a lot of it related to politics? How does the process work... do partners bring up the names of prospective partners to the partner group every year? Is there a "roster" of prospects that is revisited each year?

I’m convinced that the reason some of these firms are so prestigious is because they have intentionally exclusionary recruitment practices. I used to believe that you had to already be rich to get hired at MBB. Now being on the other side of the recruitment process , I really do feel that it rings true. I hate the way we evaluate candidates and decide on who is “high priority” during coffee chats.

We hired a new employee. I do not report to them, but they seem to think I do and want me to do their work. I’m tax and don’t even come close to working on the projects. I can’t tell whether they are genuinely in over their head or just lazy and trying to get me to do their work. This person absolutely gets paid more than me, but it is clear my education is better and that they have no clue what they are doing. They call wasting countless hours and their shit is always halfway done.
