High school degree and anger issues. Tons of guys like that sitting around. They can fire you and move on to the next.
In my experience, it’s because all (most of) the other jobs that can be found without a masters degree right now are SIGNIFICANTLY BELOW the living wage of the city, or would put you just above the poverty line without savings to fall back on. Also, if you are talking standard police officers afaik they do not need any formal college education, and shouldn’t be expected to be paid significantly more than those who have a bachelor’s degree.
I actually do hold a degree. The difference is I was a LEO before I graduated. I did my time in the field and then my time in academia. I can tell you that the things I saw being taught and academia were not only useless but dangerous misconceptions of how the world works.
Fortunately, I had professors who were also prior LEO's and one of the first things I was taught is that "some of the theories you're going to be exposed to in this course have no bearing on or place in the real world. He went on to explain that that's why they are called theories. Being a little older I already understood this but it was good that he made this clear to some of these kids right out of high school.
I'm not offended by anything said on some social media app or the internet. That is also a fundamental difference between some of us who have been out there and those who haven't.
I appreciate your opinion and the discourse on the matter however I think I'm going to stick to my observations and opinions having over a decade of patrol experience.
