Is it common to take a pay cut to transition to fp&a role in industry? Currently an audit staff 2 and all 3 financial analyst offers I’ve received are below my current compensation.

Is it possible to negotiate your consulting level when joining a firm post MBA? I did ~2.5 years consulting (analyst > sr analyst) then left right before I got promoted to associate. Left to a Chief of Staff role (1 yr) then did strategy & Ops at the same company (1.5 years). Getting my MBA beginning fall 2023 and thinking of doing consulting again after I graduate but I think I would be coming in at the level I was before I left which is off putting for me.

I am contemplating making the jump from climbing the corporate ladder (most recently a director of sales and customer operations) to owning and operating a niche franchise. Any franchise owners here who can provide advice for choosing a franchise, planning for the first year, and hiring stellar staff? Any and all advice is welcome!

I have been in my current position for 5 yrs with minimal pay increases despite consistent praise from management for being one of the strongest in our department. I hold specialty certifications, staff in ICU and ED, am part of several hospital committees, and regularly perform formulary reviews/MUEs/guideline updates. I recently found out that a new hire with no experience was brought in at a higher hourly rate than myself and several other female staff. Suggestions on steps to take with mgmt?

Say you join a Series A/B scale-up in a CEO minus 1 role , e.g. COO or Chief of Staff. The scale-up can’t raise the next round and just closes.

I’m sorry for using this thread as my diary yet again, but hoping someone in here can assist. 2017 graduate from a decent law school with high honors who didn’t get an associate offer out of law school. I ended up spending 2.5 years as a staff attorney at big law before spending the new two years as a litigation attorney at a boutique. I’ve been trying to crack into an associate position for about a year with little luck. Any advice?

Will be doing consulting/part time work for a small finance/acct outsourcing firm for startups. What rate would be a reasonable ask? I assume it would be hourly but anyone ever experienced getting a flat monthly fee?

If you are going to have your own new client email address on a project, is it safe to say that will be a staff aug role?

How risky is it to ask your client about applying for a job there? Sr client is hiring aggressively and has even hinted to my teammate that they would hire the person. However that teammate works very closely with Sr Client and I don’t (I have before but not since early summer).

Our clients company overall is also notorious for poaching our staff (at least 3 transition there every week). Has anyone ever tried it?

What’s NTT Data really like (UK)? They don’t seem to get the best rep on here - lots of comments focus on their IT Services ops (offshoring and staff aug) - but I’m wondering what the UK company is really like for data / analytics consulting? Pay seems good. How do they compare to ACN / CG / B4 for data & analytics consulting? Pay, WLB, exit ops, interesting projects, etc.

Is making the jump to a chief of staff role at start-up before making EM a bad choice?

Need suggestion: I submitted a job application for a in-house position posted by a recruiting agency on LinkedIn. Talked with the recruiter, she submitted my application to the company. Now both the recruiter and the staff from the company have contacted me to schedule an interview. It does not appear that they have been communicating with each other. Should I tell both of them that I have been contacted by both?

Started looking at jobs in private accounting. I scored interviews for a Staff Accountant, Junior Accountant, and Accounting Assistant. I just finished interviewing for the Staff Accountant position which feels very much like AP/AR and Bank Recs to start, similarly to the other two positions. Does the title matter? I want to be able to grow but at the same time I want to make sure I’m moving up positions in my job search so I’m exposed to harder/higher level work.

I just started my staff 1 audit position recently and now thinking about jumping to big 4 since the market is hot. I love my office and wanted a mid-tier firm for the wlb, but now my priorities have changed. How bad would I look in the future if I’m leaving after 2months?

Potential employer is asking what compensation level I was looking for. They asked me to think about it because they are ready to make an offer. Currently I make $56,000 in LCOL. Potential firm is largest in the state. Current firm is large regional firm. Would be same role I am currently as Staff Accountant. Just not sure what amount to shoot for.

Offered a Sr Analyst role at a small tech consulting firm (300-400 staff) in Downtown Toronto. What should I expect in terms of compensation? I'm coming from government in a SrBA position with a salary (70-90k) over the last 4 yrs, so I really have no idea what's industry average.

advice on switching from Public accounting at a Big four to an industry staff accountant position after only a little more than a year ? I have no desire to become some kind of CFO or CAO. I’ve been interviewing for positions at smaller public accounting firms as well as staff accountant roles in industry. I just want my life back before busy season….
