Hi fellow fishies!
Can someone please explain what is “SUPPLEMENTARY allowance” in my payslip??? It is the highest in my entire payslip, more than basic salary. Basic is lets say ₹7 lac annually and supplementary bonus is ₹7 lac 40 thousand.
Can someone please explain why this exists in my paylslip, is it good or bad from tax perspective and shall I ask my HR to decrease it???
Please help asap.

Now that you say it, two days off seems like a totally understandable and acceptable amount of time for a woman to deal with the difficulties of her cycles and come back strong. I'm sure women have it really bad, but in a general sense two is a good number. Is it ever going to happen? No. Do I wish for it? Absolutely.
No firm is ever going to give 2 days off a month for this, without cutting pay because an extra 24 working days off is a significant reduction. Most women in our line of work can manage it by working from home or working flexibly if they can, or taking the odd 1/2 day or day off when suffering really badly, or making up the time later.

This can be solved by working from home with a heating pad and pain relief medicines. Or calling in sick if needed. It falls within the general, if you're sick then call in sick, category.
If not the experience of all or nearly all women, it makes no sense to me that all women would get extra time off for periods. Rather, I think the right policy would be for those who have a period disorder to work out accommodations on a case by case basis, just as one would do with any other rare cyclical health condition.
I have endometriosis, I don't manage fine but I am popping ibuprofen and trying to stay alive. After becoming a mom, I am always exhausted but trying my best.
