Mass layoffs coming to Deloitte Canada. Everything set, including date and compensation to pay. It is termed as “New Operating Model”. Basically it is restructuring of organisation.

It’s a Christmas miracle! Just got a new job offer after being laid off for over six months. I guess Santa *will* be able to buy presents for the kids this year. So thankful.

Got laid off. Went back to my hometown and freelanced for small local shops. Was treated like some prodigal creative genius. Ego loved it.

I’m feeling very sad. I just learned that the partner in my previous firm got fired. I considered him my mentor. He took me under his wing. He was my Don Draper and I was his Peggy Olson. I’m really bummed about this, heartbroken and worried. Nobody knows why. The ex-colleague said everything was normal, they sent him emails but bounced back. Nobody saw it coming. 😢

Anyone here familiar with the hiring process of KPMG consulting in Van? Had a partner interview on Nov 21, thought the feedback was positive but haven't heard back yet (no rejection/offer). Is it something normal or the interview just didn't go as well as I thought?

I’ve noticed that HR, when explaining why a candidate didn’t get the job, tend to lean on “You’re great, but we had candidates with more experience in [skill relevant to the job].” I do believe this is true in some cases, but it can’t possibly be for all of them.

HR folks — what feedback have you obscured by offering that line instead?

I'm applying for a job that wants at least two business or professional references. Thing is my current job is my first job out of college and I don't want them contacting my current employer. Who am I suppose to list as a reference? Leave it blank although they personally asked for references? List college professors? Ask a coworker to be a reference and not spread work I'm leaving?

One thing that remote work has uncovered is that some markets are doing a better job than others as far as levels/titles for BA. Everyone needs to progress in their career. Happy to see Associate BA Manager and Associate Director of BA popping up more. Makes it line up better with our Producer counterparts.
