Hi! I am a B4 tax staff (soon-to-be senior), and I’m seriously considering management consulting - I think it’s a better fit for my personality and hopefully pays better…so my questions are 1) are consulting firms hiring junior levels at all these days 2) what companies and positions would be my best shot? I think I’ll have a lot of networking to do, so any tips around that would be appreciated. I’m based in California (prefer SoCal over the Bay Area but overall flexible with location)
Anyone have experience interviewing with Grassi & Co.? I’m interviewing for an experienced tax staff position and am curious about the technicals they’ll ask...
I’m seeing a lot of posts on here today about people being miserable about the start of another busy season. If you’re located in the SWFL area (preferably Tampa/Bradenton/Sarasota) and want to work a more manageable busy season, our firm is hiring! We have a posting up for Tax Staff, but we’re also looking for Seniors. Wonderful culture, in growth mode, truthfully team-oriented with hands-on partners, manageable hours and flexible work arrangements, etc.
Currently small market tax Staff making $55k and expecting the 7.5% raise to Senior in October. Could make $70k plus a bonus at another opportunity in town. Would essentially be making 10-15k more this year and likely more money next year to. Other op is not an accounting role and has a path to grow. Thoughts?
Currently a tax staff 1. I got put in the real estate group and am really not enjoying it, and it has convinced me that I want out of tax and public. Should I look to exit to entry - cont. below
I’m working at EY as Tax staff (DSG) in Central region and will be a senior this Fall. I’m trying to relocate to West Coast. Any position available? I don’t mind being a staff for another year.
Tax Staff at midsized looking for exit opps into a business/finance role. I have my CPA and MS Tax. Would I be better off trying to get a job at B4 audit then industry or are there better options?
Anybody have any ideas of a way to exit out of tax into another field? I’ve only been a tax staff for a year and would want to go into something more consulting related - is that a reach?
what is tax staff 1 compensation in general? looking to possibly transfer into indirect tax. Currently in an Audit position in the NE.
I recently joined an IT services firm as a Strategy associate (4 month in). I have 1.5 years of exp. at a bank in digital marketing. After experiencing the work in an internal strategy role, it has made working at MBB even more desirable. What steps can I take both in and out of my role to position myself as a candidate at one of the MBB firms. Additional info: Toronto based, 2 years ish professional exp, graduated w/ Masters from a target school.
I'm currently a programmatic analyst in NYC, but soon I will start my Master in Business Analytics this fall.
I have a few concerns, and would love to have your thoughts!
1. Will the school name matter when you apply for a job in analytics field.
2. With an MSBA degree, can I still apply for data scientist position? If yes, how should I start building my portfolio.
3. Your thoughts of data science/analytics opportunities in adtech/programmatic field?
3 years out of school and LS VC associate. Should I go to b school in 1-2 years post-promotion? Don't see what startup operating role would make sense
Anyone from Microsoft willing to connect/review my profile for a Senior Program Manager role?
What is an appropriate salary to expect for a Data Program Manager role (seems to be running all things analytics) at a midsized company. Role is remote so I’m not sure how COL factors.
A close friend is looking to move from being a teacher and school principal to a tech role. Who has done this successfully? How did you navigate this change? Are there particular types of roles where this experience was particularly valuable?
How useful is a CPA license in finding a non-accounting job? Eventually I want to go into more of a financial analyst role but tbh I’m curious about what most people leave auditing to go into. I’m open to anything.
Having some initial discussion with a Google Recruiter for an opportunity at their Google Cloud practice. We haven’t gotten to the exact role but they used some generic terms like “leadership role” and “global practice leader”. I am a 6th year B4 Partner with tech strategy and implementations background. What would be a comparable role at Google to exit to (in terms of responsibility and comp)?
What are fund accountant at admin currently making (i.e CITCO, MORGAN STANLEY,SS&C, NT? )

Is A&M still hiring at Director and Senior Director levels in PEPI practice? Any COVID related slowdowns?
Currently in consulting doing mainly IT Audit work and just received an offer for a GRC analyst role at a small (but growing) tech company. Has anyone else made the move from IT Audit to GRC who can provide some perspective? I’m trying to move my career more towards cyber work and I think this is the right move, so just looking for some advice.
Interviewed with Morgan Stanley last week for an operations position for the Baltimore office. Was suppose to have a third interview with a director on Thursday but the day early in the day, of the interview scheduled was told to cancel it. It’s been a week now and I’m not sure what to do since I haven’t heard anything back. What do I do?
Anyone hiring in January? Based in NYC & looking for a manager level role! My background is focused on digital media analytics. Please let me know! Thank you
Would it be seen as a downgrade to go from agencyAD to presentation designer?
I’m wondering if I’m in the wrong position. I thought I was used to throwing out a fuckton of ideas + animating them + getting shot down a ton, but I’m only getting more and more miserable as time passes.
I feel like my energy is getting wasted and would be happier focusing on slides and presentations only, but I’m afraid it’ll hurt my career trajectory. But I also heard presentation designers make a lot. Thoughts?
In light of all discussions on FB, it seems to me that individuals at our firm have been removed out of EY beyond PIP related issues.
To help the community brace itself, please provide facts on your Utilization, level, leads, YoE at EY, and network.
My experience seems that the ones let go, had weak network.
Has anyone made the change from comms to change management? Thinking of taking Prosci certification and curious if it’s worth it to help transition into change management.
4/11 Thread (General):
Last year was the first year my husband and my combined income was too much for our Roth contributions. We had to roll them back. We are currently keeping most of our savings fairly liquid with the plan to buy a house in a couple years. What can/should I be doing this year to do some retirement prep while focusing on house prep too?
So I had 3 deals scheduled to either close end of May or mid June which were all pushed to end of June/beginning of July. Which is when I have my first vacation planned for over a year (I take 0 time off). My whole family is flying up and we’re renting a cabin near me. What do I do? I’m running one of the deals, semi running the other one and not doing much leading on the other one. Note: I was supposed to not be running any of these. Do I find a back up first or tell the partners first?
Some of the best websites to sell my car online? The dealership quotes are so unrealistic - as they simply compare with kbb
Serious question - why don’t B schools treat everyone the same? Why is it harder for males? Why is it harder for Asians/Indians?
I think each application should be viewed on its merits and gender and race shouldn’t be a factor at all. Thoughts?

Wondering what advice you may have for managing a male leader who is older than me and seems very focused on hierarchy (for example offers up that I’m his “boss” in intros on a conference call). Other than being very clear about my expectations for how we work together and the value I think can come from what I bring to the mix that’s different/complementary to what he’s bringing — how can I get him less preoccupied with the ranks and more focused on moving forward?
Hi plant parents :) anyone in the dc/ northern va area that has a pothos growing well? I really just want a wee bit of cutting so I can propagate. I’d come pick it up from you, no contact! Help!
