Any advice on how to tell my manager I'm leaving? I've never had this conversation before and I don't want to burn any bridges here.

Make sure you are 100% leaving before starting that conversation. Write a resignation letter, keep it sweet and simple. Try and have a private meeting with your manager and let them know. I usually say I appreciated my time there, and I have decided to take the next step which is leaving the company, but with more professional words.

What the person above said. Make sure you are sure you are leaving and you're not just giving them a heads up that you are planning to leave. When you resign, keep it short and sweet. There isn't anything you can do from your end to keep that bridge intact. Unfortunately, if the manager wants to take it personally, they will.

"Everybody can be a leader" some say... "Leaders are nurtured not born" say others... True.

But... this is also true: "not everybody wants to be a leader" (whether they can or can't be). It is a fairly common practice in organizations with traditional career management structures for people to "be promoted" into leadership roles as the "end steps of the corporate ladder" that was climbed doing technical work. And, unfortunately, this doesn't work all the time

Recently relocated IT cloud engineer looking for a new position in the DC area around the December time frame. Is hiring slow for IT in the area this time of the year?

Just found out that my favorite aunt, who claimed I was her “favorite” niece, chose to leave all her valuables to her other two nieces who never visited or called her once in the last ten years. My aunt passed away suffering from cancer last year and didn’t have her own kids. I was there by her side throughout her battle. I still wish I had done more, made her life easier. I probably sound petty, but a part of me is forcing me to re-evaluate every interaction I ever had with her.
