Anyone have advice for someone in their early 50s to enter consulting? I’m trying to help my brother but not sure what advice to give him. He has 25+ years experience as an engineer in aerospace and automotive. He’s done a lot of roles in projects and is extremely well versed in the manufacturing sector. I’m in consulting but not sure where he would fit. Ideas would be welcome! Thanks in advance!

I am also at Accenture with 35 years in Industry. I will say they have been great about respecting my background.

I think he could be a great consultant. I did it in my 50s

Absolutely doable for him to him to be successful. I would target firms that have non equity partner or pre-partner roles for a soft landing into consulting, so he doesn’t come in with the giant sales target on his back. For less pressure, there are firms with lifer subject matter expert roles.

But to make him very appealing, he needs to come in with a fresh set of relationships novel to the firm. The firm can help him shape the opportunity but he needs to demonstrate that he is willing to open some doors. The pure SME role doesn’t go further otherwise. And of course that helps him learn the ropes and develop a book of business

Doable for sure

Yeah - dont do it

"deep sector expertise" real Subject Matter Experts will always have value

1st Job - 90k…. Is this a good salary? Late to the game at 34. Don’t even know anything about personal finance. Basically feeling like an 18 year old over here with no knowledge of how to run my own life. Having to start over after long term controlling relationship where I was left out of all the finance stuff. So I’m lost TBH. Engineering makes sense, managing my money not so much.

Best SF based tech/tech infrastructure firm to work for as an accountant?

One of my friends works as a Director in Nagarro. She has been there for 7 years and has a CTC of 42 with total yoe 17. Per current trend this is low even though she is a constant top performer. She says that even though delivery people play a pivotal role, they are not paid well. In her team, she sees technical people earning 45-50 at 10-11 yoe. So the factor is 2.5 for delivery vs 4.5 to 5 for technical roles. Per her, this is quite common in Nagarro & she is not an outlier. ctd in comments
