in discussions for a project manager role. what is the impact, if any, of me getting promoted to senior consultant in the middle of discussions? would I be able to increase my ask? seems a bit arbitrary to be able to ask for more money from one day to the next because my title officially changed at that time
Has anyone ever gone through a salary negotiation at a multi manager? This is for a junior analyst role (2 years out of college) in New York. What can I realistically ask for in terms of signing bonus, base and relocation?
Thinking about moving from strategy consulting to a relationship manager role in big tech. Pros and cons?
How can you work in consulting if you want to take pride in your work? My senior manager just told me that the key to success in my current role is emotionally detaching from my work so that I don't care when my controlling client insists I do something absolutely stupid that I wholeheartedly disagree with. How can anyone truly enjoy being a professional pushover??
Drop a short note to a hiring manager saying happy thanksgiving or wait until our next discussion? If I was a hiring manager I’d appreciate the thought, but can understand if others think otherwise.
Have you ever accepted a job offer as a candidate(or had a candidate accept your offer of employment as a recruiter/hiring manager), and then rescind? I have 2 opportunities but the timelines are misaligned. I think I'm shortly getting an offer from one while I'm midway thru the process with the other. I don't want to end up in a position of saying yes but then getting a better offer and rescinding. I don't think I can ask for more than a week to think about it. Any advice on best way to handle?
I left auditing for an accounting manager role. My company is in the medical device space and, in working on monthly close tasks, I notice that some sales people do very well. I know sales is more commission heavy, but part of me still thinks about the “what if” I was able to switch. In getting to know some salespeople, they seem to come from all types of backgrounds, from business to public health. I have limited knowledge in the medical space, but I’m willing to learn. Any advice? Drop it?
What are some useful goals for a Senior Consultant looking to get ready for a Manager role? My Coach doesn’t have much interest in my development and I’m in the process of looking for a new one, but meanwhile I’m working on building my own list of skills I need to work to become a good manager. What does a brilliant Engagement Manager look like? Any thoughts are much appreciated!
Had an interview yesterday and the hiring manager told me at the end of it he thinks I’m a great candidate & I should be hearing from him soon. I never actually spoke to a recruiter prior to the interview, and so I emailed them to ask what the salary range was. She called me back and we discussed salary (much lower than what I’m looking for btw). She asks me how it went, and I say I think it went well. She then goes “oh really? I mean you don’t know what the competition is like”...I’m like wtf?
Anyone have any advice about how to get a hold of and allow me to move anywhere in the world? I’ve been on the hunt for about a year now and haven’t found anything that matches a program manager or DevOps manager position.
Are interviews with a hiring manager generally the final round? Have the hiring manager interview soon but it’ll only be the second time speaking to someone at the company. It is a very small ~5 person group though.
Had an interview with hiring manager last Friday. It went very well and my profile matches the requirements for job. However, hiring manager dint confirm during interview. Is that a usual scenario? Even the HR team has not come back with next steps yet. How long does it take in general?
Does the manager title really matters ? If you are making more than an average manager and performing at that level ? Does it impact exit opportunities?
Recruiter reached out to me for a Project Manager role saying I was "strongly recommended" (didn't say who, just trying to flatter me?) I've seen others say they always check comp range first to make sure nobody is wasting their time. What's the best way to do so? Something like: "Hi *name*, Thank you for reaching out. I would love to hear more but would like to check the expected compensation range for this role to make sure it is a right fit for my career."
Am I being too sensitive? Interviewed for a Corporate Strategy Manager position at a F50 today and one of the ladies was a White Woman. We get through the interviews and I ask her about the culture. She then proceeded to tell me how it’s really good and even have programs to provide consulting services to NPO that serves impoverished minorities communities and my views and life experiences would definitely bring a good perspective. It honestly made me a little uncomfortable about their culture.
What sort of interview questions can I expect for an entry-level role in the therapeutics arm of a fundamental analysis long-short fund with the portfolio manager?
Have a final round interview with hiring manager tomorrow for director role at biotech firm. I’m one of two candidates left. Anything to ask or say to help differentiate myself from the competition.
I started a strategy manager role in industry 2 weeks ago and I’m finding it hard to feel productive. I don’t really know what my role is and I’m trying to work with diff dept heads on strategic initiatives they have in place but no one has the time to meet with me. I’m not sure what to do and how to feel like I’m adding value.
Is having "brand" names in you CV important? Like, would a recruiter or hiring manager care more about what you did or who you did it for?
I am in a design/production role at a mid-sized agency. We currently only have one person on the digital team doing UX. I recently presented my manager with a proposal for a new position, UI Designer, that I want to move into. I would love some advice on how to negotiate salary on a new position that doesn't current exist. How do you respond to an offer? What if they say it's a lateral move and don't offer me any additional compensation?
Hi everyday, does anyone know when usually large CPA firms hire experienced associate level audit position ( not senior / manager) ? I try to apply but can’t find any from career website.
What kinda of behavior questions did you get when interviewing for tax manager position? Thanks in advance!
Initial recruiter said comp range was 125-140. Just spoke to hiring manager and they said the salary is at 110 plus equity. He asked if that was a deal breaker and I said I would like higher salary but I’m sure we can work something out. How do I go about negotiation?
Has anyone in the UK successfully switched from consulting to a VC/PE from a manager role? I’m checking their websites and there are only guys there - so demotivating don’t even want to start trying. Thought/ideas/inspirations?
Have two different company job interviews atm. One I’m meeting CMO on Monday as a final round after meeting the whole team and second I’ve just had a first conversation with the hiring manager and they want me to meet rest of the team, etc. 2nd company I’m more interested in but earlier in interview process. Any tips on how to delay 1st company if they make me an offer?
Just started the process for a project manager role at RedHat. Anyone here have any tips or insight on working for them?
Just started the process for a project manager role at RedHat. Anyone here have any tips or insight on working for them?
Had a final round interview (3 1-on-1s and one panel presentation) with a healthcare marketing company today for a manager position. Was asked about why I’ve left previous jobs every 1.5-2 years and how they could know that I would stay longer this time. I addressed my past and why this new position interested me, but wondering how others have dealt with this question? The way the question was positioned rubbed me the wrong way but I’d decided to just see how far I could get in the process.
Two offers.. In growth tech company-Sr Manager, $290K vs in health care company-Director, $315K. This is total comp including RSUs and both are in SF Bay Area. I have always been with tech companies so wondering if moving verticals is worth the extra incentive. The role will be in the sw unit of a healthcare company. What would you do?
Would you take a manager role when exiting with <2 YOE? Backstory: I gave a high salary range for a company I was interviewing with and during negotiation they couldn’t hit it at the senior associate band so they offered a manager title instead. I turned it down because I thought it’d be foolish and short sighted to take a role like that so early in my career. Interested in hearing other thoughts and personal experiences!
Looking to transition into industry from B4 (3rd year manager) working on federal Corp compliance and provision. Currently moving along in the process for a tax manager role with a large corporation for tax manager position. Would be looking at a $20K raise, however it appears to be an individual contributor role (no one underneath manager). Has anyone made a similar switch and can share experiences?
Have an interview with a lead (director level) of a small to medium size company today. What should I expect? I made it past the hiring manager so this is his boss. Should I expect it to be detailed with me speaking about my experience or conversational?
For those who have made the switch to Industry, at what level did you leave consulting/with what experience and for what role (e.g, SA to Manager)? Primarily talking to those individuals who left for Tech or another growth industry.
Looking to jump over to Capcos Capital Markets division as a senior consultant and will soon be discussing salary expectations with the hiring manager. I’ll be asking for 125-130k. Is this a reasonable range? I have 3.5 YOE and a Masters in Finance.
Can everyone please share your H1b transfer experience recently? I’m waiting for a job offer (the hiring manager said they are working with the firm attorney to figure out the process). Is it hard to do H1b transfer now? What is the timeline? Has the prevailing wage applied yet?
Just started a job at a Fortune 50’s Corporate Strategy group 3 months ago. Now another Corporate strategy group is contacting me for a Manager position. Which is more money and a promotion. Would I be bad to leave if I get the offer? I like the current team and only have 3YOE. Previously at Big 4 non strategy.
I joined 6 months ago as a L5 manager. I like my team but don't enjoy the work. I also feel I was down levelled at the time of joining. Should I wait 6 months and move internally? How easy is internal mobility especially if I were to target a L6 role? Would applying outside be wise ?
Hiring manager reached out 3 days after a virtual super day for a “follow up conversation”. Thoughts on if this is typically a good or bad sign?
Is Senior Accountant to Sr Financial Analyst reasonably possible? I'm having a hard time selling my audit experience to a Finance hiring manager who doesn't have PA experience or their CPA. I'm thinking if I do a Sr Accountant role for 1-3 years I would be more marketable for a Sr Financial Analyst position. Thoughts? Seems like most Financial Analyst positions want forecasting experience and some of the Sr Accountant roles I've seen mention that as a job duty.
I'm in an interesting position. I got an offer for an Associate manger (level 8) role at a tier 2 firm. I asked if bumping it up to level 7 (Manager) role is an option, and was basically told that it is if I really want to, but I should be careful what I wish for. SM basically told me that he thinks I will be a lot better set up for success in the long run if I were to start at level 8. What are your thoughts? I would be coming from a large ad agency where I'm an Account Director.
Are any public accounting firms hiring associates with only one year experience? 1st yr tax associate let go due to RIF yesterday and I’d like to stay in PA but worried I don’t have much experience under my belt to leverage. Any insight or help is appreciated!

Anyone know anything about CDK Global? Got approached by a recruiter there for a commercial strategy role. Looked at a couple reviews on Glassdoor, but I seem to value my fish friends' opinions more.
I was just promoted to senior. I would like to leave public after obtaining my CPA/having a busy season as a senior under my belt. PA wrecks havoc on my anxiety and I don’t know how long I can realistically last in this position. This might be horrible to say but I would honestly love a job with structured hours (ie just the basic 9-5, maybe some overtime here and there but not the norm/expected) and the work is also very boring/similar day to day. Can anyone recommend positions that fit this?
In a role right now where I’m pretty much a glorified assistant. Relish this or ask for more opportunities?

During my interviews, I get the feeling my answer to the “tell us about your process” inquiry isn’t hitting the mark. Would love to hear what other creatives/art directors have to say...
