Hi Fishes,
I Will be Joining PWC AC B as SA2 on Sept 2,2022. Just want to know about Appraisal cycle. Is it Mid Year or Annual appraisal process. Also, will I be eligible for next appraisal cycle ? Tried asking the same Question to HR, but didn't get a proper response. She just mentioned as per company policy.

I’ve lived in NYC 10 years now and about to raise a child in the city. It’s a hustle and money never seems to be enough but I grew up in the NJ suburbs so know the difference and that I would prefer to stay in the city. Also, it makes it a lot easier when you have family here to help. I don’t know how many job opportunities there are right now but I hear companies are starting to hire again.

There are a lot of NYC people here I’m sure. I lived in NYC, then moved to Jersey City to have kids and then moved to NJ suburbs for more space. I just found it really hard to have kids in NY, but tons of people do it. I’m happy where I am now. Lots off former Brooklynites here.

It’s a brilliant place to live and work but not for everyone.
You’ll have to make a lot of changes in how to do pretty much everything.
you probably drive now- you’ll have to walk home with bags of groceries in the rain/snow/heat.
You probably have a bedroom (with a door) for a reasonable price - in NYC you’ll have a very small space, pay a lot and might not have a bedroom door.
You may live at a normal daily pace where you are now - in NYC everyone is in a hurry and many people are just plain rude.
However... Ive lived here 9 years and still love it. It’s an experience that’s not for everyone but the positives outweigh the negatives any day:
Endless work opportunities / always something to do or explore / you’re never ‘alone’ just go for a walk and you’ll likely meet at least one person you stop to chat with / parks everywhere / you don’t have to drive / cuisine of every kind / convenience... get anything delivered at any time.
Just be sure your mentally ready to make a life change then jump in. It’s tough at first on new people but if you want to be here you’ll enjoy it.
Good luck!
It’s fun here for sure. Here ten years, have a 6 month old baby. It’s definitely TOUGH with kids, especially if you don’t have a support system of helpful grandparents around. But still fun. Man, childcare is so fricking expensive.
FWIW....I have lived in NY before but moved to get married (which isn’t working out). I also have 2 kids under 5. Even with time and all the other stuff, I can’t seem to flush it out of my system. Am I insane?
