Hey all,

Been out of work for about a year now, been interviewing and actively since being laid off due to companys budget cut. Was in final / decision rounds before covid and everything has been tbd or rescinded since. Responses have been few and far in between and now the year gap is becoming a concern.

Would like to ask if anyone has tips or can point me in the right direction. I come from a management consulting/prod mgt background in tech. Disregard the risk consultant title.

incoming cyber risk consultant for Deloitte (starting in sept. in NYC) as a new grad. Can my offer be rescinded b/c if Deloitte goes through mass layoffs? Are certain divisions safer than others?

I’m being laid off and my agency is trying to find a place for me within our holding company. I haven’t received any departure paperwork or anything regarding severance yet. Is this normal? Are they trying to find a place for me within our holding company to avoid paying out severance? I have a job offer outside the holding group that I want to take but if I can wait it out another week until departure conversations (severance is offered), should I? Anyone been fired for majorly screwing up? Did they give you some time to find a new job or was it pretty immediate?

Is anyone here constantly worried about getting laid off? I didn’t get moved to my next level (SA1 > SA2 > SA3 before manager) last review cycle (I was 6 months in the firm). Now I’m always constantly worried I’m going to get laid off. Overall get along w people at my level up to manager, but cannot get along with most partners and some directors. I’ve had good reviews from the former, and mixed reviews from the latter.

Wondering if this is anxiety or intuition.

I'm feeling a lot of anger towards my manager (now he's acting normal but there were moments where he was condescending/dismissive/mocked my and others work/arrogant/said stuff was "wrong" constantly/belittling the difficulty of tasks etc. in the past project).
Maybe it is "standard chewing out" but it bothered me a lot. So much that I find myself still getting all fired up inside thinking about it...
Idk how to let go of this :/ Thoughts?

If you give your project/manager 1-2 months notice that you’re leaving to go to school (as a courtesy) and the firm decides to cut the cord sooner and forces you out, do you get severance?

I have been considering whether it’s time to make a career change to software sales and would love some input on where to start. As you likely know the mortgage industry is dead right now, which has given me a ton of free time to consider the change. As a mortgage loan officer with 8+ yrs experience (branch manager for 2 of those), would it make sense to aim for an AE role? Is that selling myself short based on sales experience or would most companies like to see software experience first?

Moms,

I finally caved and hired a nanny. It was fantastic for 2 days. She told me tonight that her roommate tested positive. She's quarantining and taking the test tomorrow. We did ask the pre work and interviews to make sure the safety precautions are in place.

I'm freaking out. Realistically, if her test is negative, are we all clear or is there still a chance of exposure?
