There are a few in my practice who have been at each of the B4 and ACN within the past few year. There are pros and cons. Basically the infrastructure and safety net to scale vs empowerment and clarity of impact. Both have their own challenges. It’s not so much the grass greener, but they are different shades of brown. I think it comes down to whether you can thrive in your subculture. Hope that helps.
True - different shades of brown - no green in sight.
Can someone explain why GT is even relevant I see them discussed randomly and I talked to the recruiter and they acted like they were hot sh*t but I've never seen them anywhere doing anything.
For context, and this was years ago, I was making like 125-150k as a manager at the time, pretty low as I'm in the DC area, and they were telling me they'd do me a favor and bring me in at like 115k or something and I didn't qualify for higher level roles. And being indignant I was asking for more. The recruiter I was talking to then referred me to someone she knew at Deloitte based on my criteria lol. Totally weird experience.

Isn’t PP comp 1/3 - 1/2x what we have in B4 at those firms? Some are PE backed now, not good either
I am sure it varies wildly. My data points suggest that guaranteed cash is typically on the order of 20-25% higher at B4 and ACN than boutiques for partners, but maybe boutique total upside can be higher. Here we are also PE owned and have the wealth creation aspects P1 mentioned.
Being a boutique has different kinds of uncertainty than a B4 so who really knows.
And let’s face it, a DAP at B4 and ACN is a very hard road and the flame out rate is high.
I won't share the firm i joined, but what shocked me is the caliber of people. Im meeting "rock star" partners and MDs who would have been on PIPs at my last firm. This firm has a reputation for being nice but rewarding mediocrity is not nice, it's a fatal flaw. I will likely leave before I even hit my 1 year anniversary.
I hate to say it but that describes West Monroe. There is some arrogance about being “old school” here that is misplaced and has caused us to have some bad years. And I agree, especially those West Monroe system consultants wouldn’t make it elsewhere.
I happen to value the nice culture you mention, think I can make a difference, and see some positive leadership shifts so I’m willing to stick it out a bit longer but may not last either.
