Nope. PTO is a big part of your benefits and exists to be used. The people who never take a day aren't heroes or team players. They just don't have any concept of WLB. Pretty sad to me.

Exactly, dedicating your life to a company who will get rid of you is needed tomorrow.
I got laid off with 224 PTO hours. That tells you that I rarely took a day off. I knew my hours after 224 would roll into STD so Id take a day and let it go bqck to 224, repeat.

I generally used all of my PTO over the years and in my last year, I had 42 days to use. I did carry over 20 days into 2025, so I had a full month off before I retired!

I guess. I have young kids so I make I take them for school programs/activities, appointment, trip things of that nature or when I’m just flat out tired.
If you're entitled to the days, take them. There may be a problem with scheduling, that's not unusual. That can be worked out. There's no point in forfeiting the days if you're entitled to them, no one is going to care about that, tbh.

Sometimes I feel like it’s an inconvenience to my team but then I think about the people that call out unexpectedly and then don’t think twice.
In claims…you have to take mental health days. Our company accrues 6 hours of PTO every pay period. That should tell you how important it is to us for people to have good mental health.
I have NEVER denied any of my reports any PTO days EVER

Yes, those days when I’m just exhausted I used to feel bad for taking off but I don’t anymore. I need to reboot and relax.
