Prayers that I can keep my mouth shut at the office today ladies. Had an ambush meeting yesterday that completely blindsided me and my boss with feedback from my client. And of course, I'm scheduled to work with the client in person today. I'm still furious, but have a meeting this afternoon to verify the feedback since it was 4th hand. I’m the one whose ex won’t pay for college - and I have an update. My ex texted me today that he and his wife are buying our son a car (!!) for Christmas. On the one hand, it’s one less expense for me. On the other hand, my ex won’t pay for college and he owes me at least $10K for previous medical expenses, but he can find money for a car - which is a “fun” expense that will get him brownie points with our son. Whatever - my son benefits, but talk about a “Disneyland Dad.” Ugh.

Joined D in August. For insurance I opted for a few addons amounting to 26K to be paid from my end. In my previous Organization, they would deduct these addon amounts in 4/8/12 equal instalments. In D they deducted the whole part in this months salary. Does D not have the option to deduct in instalments? The in hand salary was low and I can barely cover my fixed financial commitments and basic needs.

Maybe this is a dumb idea, but maybe firms should change their policies and guarantee no retaliation if you give more than 2 weeks notice. Additionally if the position doesn’t work out you would be allowed to stay. This would give firms much more runway for finding replacement employees. Thoughts?

Does your baby drink more milk when away from you? I am WFH and pumping and breastfeeding. Sometimes nanny gives baby the bottle and then baby wants / sees me and nurses after. I pump afterwards but only get like 1 oz (since she drank a full bottle). So basically, baby needed another 4 oz on top of breastfeeding. On the weekend baby drinks from me and doesn’t need more milk. Baby is 10 months. I have a freezer stash but don’t want to reduce supply too much.

I miss some of my colleagues WFH, but in some ways I feel closer to them chatting during small zoom meetings than I did in the open space where i had to watch who was listening to every word I said. Give us back real offices and maybe I’d actually miss going in again.

For ppl who has approved I-140, are we able to transfer between practices within big 4 without impacting the priority date for green card application? i.e. transfer from audit to advisory. Thanks in advance!

Just curious, what percentage of your billable rate do you take home? Calculation would be ((Salary and Bonus/Yearly Billable Hours)/Billable Rate). For me it's about 18% as a Senior 1 in M&A Tax (note this doesn't include other benefits).

I recently began to feel Covid-19 symptoms and decided to get tested (waiting for results). My husband took the rapid and tested positive. Meet the Teacher is Monday and school starts for my students on Tuesday. If I have to quarantine, I have no idea how this will work. Will a substitute meet my parents and review the routines and procedures? Has anyone experienced missing the first week or two with your class? I need advice.
