At the beginning of my career I'd reach out to other professionals on LinkedIn or similar platforms to discuss their roles and what the work actual entails. Is this kind of this still normal? Especially later on in your career? I'm interested in moving job roles but like to talk to people in that position to get a better understanding first.

i have an offer of X amount from jp morgan and x+ 3.5L from Mphasis, my joining is within a week, I asked counter offer from HR, she said we will look if there is any backup candidate to fill that position then we will not do counter and it will impact my DOJ also since offer approval process takes around 2 weeks. should i wait or should i join on my current doj. and also if i will wait will they give me another doj on my current compenstion or they will revoke the offer past doj?
