Hi,
I'm thinking of changing my career to data analytics. What course should I be doing?

Definitely start with the Google data analytics certification. The idea is to partner that knowledge up with your current skill set and begin to build a portfolio of use cases with one page slides for each. Learn things like SQL, Python or Alteryx (alteryx is a great low code tool, search for their free license program), and become familiar with the power suite from Microsoft. If you can actually do something with the data after that will help business users become “self service analysts”, like build useful dashboards or build low code apps on top of the data, you will be invaluable to a company. Most important skill is to know how to problem solve and facilitate problem solving. Someone once told me they viewed it as “Object Oriented Problem Solving”. Using programmatic thinking to solve problems. I like to incorporate design thinking principles into the mix like the LDJ sessions from AJ&Smart. If you do all that you’ll be solid. If you want to connect on LinkedIn and reach out to chat feel free to DM me.

Thoughts on seniority? Also, any interview resources for PE portfolio roles?

Currently working at an IRA with great WLB. Honestly I love my job, the firm, and people I work with.

Also doing MBA part time at a T15 school. Thinking about switching to IB but I’ve done my research and I think I would burn out of IB in two years but I might be ok with that for the opportunities after.
