I think it’s a generational thing.
Thanks for reminding this. I do this quick call too, and I am usually very mindful of other people's time. Sometimes you need an explanation when things are not well documented, or still complicated to understand.
This is the worst, an email really would be just fine 99% of the time. If I get sucked into one of these, I'll make up something about having a hard stop in 15 minutes or so to try to keep things as short as possible.
The call shouldn't be too long, but I'm the kind of person who writes a small book in emails because the problems are complex and full of exposition.
Rising Star
I usually end up on the phone for 20 minutes chatting/networking so I enjoy a good phonecall. But I can be efficient too, it depends on the reason for the call and the workload of me or them. If it is something that needed immediate attention just quickly pick up the phone and done.
