We hired an employee to be an assistant and she wasn’t performing or showing up half the time. My boss told me he had enough complaints about her work ethics and responsiveness and let’s move forward with looking for her replacement. I started interviewing people and a new HR person told us she would manage her & we were not to fire her. I am now getting comments from my hr lady that I am negative because I complained to a coworker I had to work overtime to keep filling in for her.

Any thoughts on the best certifications to get in order to help move forward? I have considered the CCP from World at Work, but it’s fairly pricey to get by the time you wrap up everything. I was looking at both SHRM-CP and SPHR. Everyone that I have spoken to has the SHRM, but that’s also only looking at individuals in a small geographic footprint and within 3-4 different companies. I was hoping to get some thoughts on this from others? Thanks

Hi Everyone, I’m applying to an M&A tax senior position with PwC. Currently an S1 looking to make a switch from a compliance and some consulting Real Estate & PE clients background to more Deals work aka M&A. What are some skills or subject matters I should be brushing up to ease the transition?
Anyone have any thoughts on State Street? I have no clue where they recruit or what they do but my friend is trying convince me they’re a prestigious group.
Questions for M&A folks (esp. IB / PE):
1) Putting name of exact deal on your resume — is this good/acceptable/bad?
2) Mentioning name of exact deal during interview — is this good/acceptable/bad?
3) If I know that the interviewer worked on the same deal, does it change answer to Q2?
Anything else I should be thinking about?
How can I find who advised a specific M&A deal? I can usually find the investment bank, but never the professionals from that bank who were responsible.
Starting at a B4 Post Merger Integration group as an experienced hire (SA level). Have done some M&A work before but I really want to hit the ground running. I’m thinking I’m going to approaching it where I do a mix of 1:1 and workshop style “interviews” to assess the quality and skills of people coming from a company to be acquired. How does one does this in practice? What types of questions should I be asking given I don’t have domain expertise in all these areas, and what does an final output/deliverable look like? It’s like 50 people.
