The thing that gets me going is also working on a side project. Having a creative outlet that brings money in, helps me a lot. I also look at the other areas in my life that doesn’t involve work. Life isn’t all about work. I learned that after getting laid off in 2024. Think about your “why” and let that push you through the dark times.

I wish I had one
Just wanted to comment because I genuinely understand what you're going through right now... This just happened to me yesterday. I was a final candidate for a job I'd consider my dream job but didn't get the job. It genuinely sucks. So, I feel you.
I'm just trying to not push myself too hard, hydrate and rest when I can. I also am trying to make time for things that make me happy. Maybe, you can try this strategy as well? Hope this helps!
Chief
Thanks. Hope it goes better soon for both of us!
I totally get it. I'm feeling the same way. It's hard and I don't have any energy left.
Chief
Thanks
See it as it wasn't meant to be for you Something better will come along.
Chief
Thanks
It’s devastating, especially if it seemed like a good fit. When this happens, I’m very suspicious of the toxic positivity that most people seem to push on me so I’ll try not to do that to you: No, it wasn’t their loss, it was your loss - you lost the opportunity, the pay. They’ll be fine.
BUT
You will be fine too. You may just need time to grieve and get back in the saddle again. Because what’s the alternative?

Thank you
It sucks that they wanted someone else more than you. It does not mean you weren't good enough. It happened to me a few years ago. Down to me and one other person, 7 rounds of interviews. Turns out the other person was a friend of the hiring manager and they hired that person. Can't lie, I'm still a little bitter over the entire process but I did realize it's a numbers game and does not have anything to do with my value, skill, or abilities. In the end it could be any reason why they chose someone else. You don't "get over" it, you just move on. It will mean less when something else means more. Also remembering that every job, even the ones you love, sucks eventually so your loss is the illusion that it was perfect. It wasn't. Keep that in your pocket for when you feel bad.

Lol. That’s true. I’m sure it wasn’t perfect.
Its a case of "Keep Calm and Carry On"
Very hard to that when you've been slapped in the face ..
