Looking to potentially leave my advisor/financial planning role at an insurance BD in Milwaukee area. Any RIAs in the area looking? Or any advice on best ways to find opportunities at an RIA without posting a resume on a job site? I am not looking to start my own firm as my book is not that large.
Hi All, I am seeking advice on how to transition into wealth management - client facing role. I am currently a relationship manager on the sell side. Does anyone have any advice on how to transition into this industry? Or where I can find a mentor in wealth management to help get there?
Hey y’all! I am looking for a relationship management role or financial planning role in the Upstate of SC if anyone has any leads. Really only interested in small independent firms and RIA’s. Please let me know if you know of someone! Thanks in advance!
Debating an offer from JP Morgan for VP Private Banker. Would be a big comp increase but also a role change. I'm currently a private banker on the lending side with 15 years experience with a cush gig and zero sales pressure. JPM pros are comp, a new challenge, build skills, expand network. Cons I lose my nice corner office and 30 hour work week, worse benefits/perks, and I'm apprehensive about the culture/sales pressure. Any insight or advice?
I need some advice on negotiating payout structure. I work for a pretty large firm in that we have 7 advisors and manage around $500M AUM. I’m just getting started transitioning from a primary licensed staff role to commission-only FA. Payout for me would be 40%. Is this normal? Should this be negotiated? Can it change as I get more business. Also side note I just brought in my first whale and I’m super excited about it!
I have almost 3 years working for a RIA (first and only job). I really like the company, colleagues, culture etc. I started as an analyst and now my role is portfolio management. I have also brought some clients to the firm (around $6M). My compensation is okey, but I would like to make more money. What are ways of adding value to the RIA other than bringing new clients? On prospecting, do you have any tips for a 26yr old on how to get new clients? It is not easy nor cheap to meet HNWI in miami
I'm looking for an opportunity to become a FA. Specifically, I'd like to get a paid opportunity while I train for the role and get remaining licenses. Can someone help me to get a chance? Is someone here hiring entry level FAs? Recommendations? Thank you very much 🙏🏼
When you change investment firms as a financial advisor is the firm you move to given access to how many assets you manage and your revenue produced from your last position from a third party?
Getting recruited by JP Morgan for Banker/VP role. What are the pros/cons to a salaried position like that vs me growing my own book where I am now? It’s a slow grind to build a book and considering jumping ship
I’m hiring Protege Financial Advisors for opportunities in NJ. I’m an active advisor and sales manager for my firm, a local Guardian agency. New advisors receive full benefits, including medical, dental, vision, defined benefit pension, 401(k) with 3% match and Roth options, tuition reimbursement and more. If you’re interested in a new opportunity, please message me. Thanks!
Been a FA for 10 years, but during COVID figured out that this advisory role was built on sand. Current clients arent able to sustain production. What should I do?
Looking for a leadership position in the Financial Services Industry. Have extensive experience in Supervision and recruiting experienced advisors. Please message if there’s an opportunity you have. Advice needed please. I am a Recruiter considering going back to the Advisor world, though to be clear I have 6/63 life and health. Currently recruiting for a hybrid RIA so I know the business and a great deal about planning though no designations. I'd love any advice on whether or not I should try to get my 7/66 now or just find a firm to sponsor me & get them when I land. I definitely need a base and am considering a bank advisor role, but love the Independent space. Any advice welcome thx!
Curious to get an idea of where my company compares regarding compensation. I am one of a team of 5 advisors dedicated to about 6500 individual clients and $2.97Billion in client assets. Each one of us is fully licensed (7,66 and insurance), and I hold my 24. My base is $80k with a VC target of 40% of base salary. Goals are mostly made up of client satisfaction surveys, asset additions, and retention. I feel that we are grossly underpaid for the role, but not sure exactly how that compares.
Being a millennial myself, and having a client base that skews older, I've been curious about how to attract my generation and the next. I agree goals can change generation to generation, but some of these ideas in the article seem...more extreme than I've seen. Any of you running into these types of clients? https://www.morningstar.com/articles/1012101/what-the-next-generation-of-clients-is-looking-for-from-advisors?utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=linkshare&utm_source=link
What is the best way to find new clients during these times that aren't referral based? I used to rely on networking events and meeting people face to face, but with the current environment that is mostly impossible.
8 yrs in the business and my take home pay is around $130k but I run my own book and on no salary. I’m being offered a salary position at Citi to be a private banker for $150k + bonuses... Would you jump ship? I’m seriously considering it
Is there a entry-level FA or associate position out there, that offers at least an initial salary? Everything I see is full commission which I understand but what about the ones looking to learn their way up? recommendations? Thanks
Symbol VXX: I’m wondering if this position is considered inverse or leveraged by you all? Why or why not?
Have a long term goal of growing a full service office. A team of wealth managers, planners, life insurance agent(s), PC agent(s), etc. with support staff as needed. Everyone has a role. My question is how should I structure the comp? No idea what’s standard in this structure or where to even research models in our industry. Any ideas?
Facing a career decision: do I take the pay raise, or the position that I'm more interested in?
Currently, we have a Product Design Manager - Client Growth role open. Client Growth is the flywheel of Acquisition, Onboarding, and Retention. The overall goal is the customers receiving value throughout the journey while delivering our brand promise and improving conversion rates from a visit to start (i.e. hire and, later, rehire) Ready to directly impact our mission of creating economic opportunities so people have better lives? Was just told that because I’m a better/ more strategic employee and have contributed more than my team that the expectations for me are higher than for others and that the reward is more work and brand building at the same position/pay. I’m scratching my head here and trying to understand what the logic is behind that statement and where it comes from. Can anyone please explain this to me?
BCG or MBB folks, got a call from the recruiter today that the outcome of decision round and calibration call today was positive and the lead partner will give me a call on Monday to discuss with me on the role and offer directly by himself. Trying to get some inside from the HR but she just asked me to wait and hear from the partner, sounds a bit weird and surprise to me as normally this state was usually with the HR. Anyone experienced this before? Was this really a good sign? @BCG Digital
Hi all! Will any kind fish be willing to read my resume and give me feedback? I’ve been applying to different position but haven’t had any luck. Someone mentioned it is too specialized but I would love that a new set of eyes could read it to make it more appealing to consulting recruiters. Would really appreciate it :)
Hello all, I’m currently in the interview process with EY. I’ve already had my interviews and the next step would be an offer letter or rejection. I reached out to the recruiter a week after my final interviews, and they responded saying this “I am awaiting next steps from the hiring partner at this point.” Can someone expound on what that could mean? Is that a positive sign of receiving an offer?

Is $175k base + bonus a realistic industry exit for a new accounting advisory Manager in NYC? I've had the title for 2 months and what about in 1 year? I'm seeing Accounting Manager job postings in the $120k-140 range and that doesn't seem worth it for me. I don't know if I'm out of touch with what companies are paying.
Hello fishers! I recently came across BCG opportunity that quite fit my background. Can someone give me an referral ? Thanks

Hi guys, looking for advice. I left ACN about 3 months ago and stepped into a very disorganized, toxic work environment that’s giving me anxiety attacks. I thought consulting was negatively impacting my mental health, but this is another ball game. I’m thinking about going back to consulting. Any thoughts on best approach for this? I think I have a fair story to tell, but not sure if any firm will bite this soon after leaving. Any thoughts? Maybe someone can throw me a referral 😢
Looking for a referral to Bain & Company (US). If anyone is willing to chat/help out, please let me know.
I have round 2 interviews coming up with Kearney for an Associate role within the Strategic Operations practice. Is anyone else here practicing, looking to practice, or has had experience with the firm? Would love to understand a few things: 1) Types of cases to expect. 2) Is the format very different from the McKinsey style of casing? Aside from Kearney expecting the candidate to lead the case. 3) I've heard cases are mostly Operations oriented. Is that true? Thank you in advance

My friend’s current employer is forcing them to extend last day by 2 weeks (2 weeks notice already done) or saying they wouldn’t cooperate with the EVLs needed for future i140 filing with the new employer. Is this common? Is it better to keep quiet and just extend the last day?

I don’t think I will survive sleep training my 9 month old. There I said it! I am hardly able to work trying to get his naps and meals right, and dreading another night of guilt crying and working into wee hours! Happy Friday indeed! How in the world did you mammas do it, clearly I have missing gene because this motherhood is really really making me question my ability to manage life! Thank you for listening and not judging. Not in a great place right now
Senior Managers at Big4 - how much is your salary? Trying to compare if I’m being shafted or not since most of my class left and have no one to ask without it being awkward.
I asked a junior to review production and asked them to focus on one issue. Turns out the records produced also included payments made by adverse party that undermine them pretty badly, it all came out at mediation, which failed. Should I reprimand the junior for not looking into those payments sooner, even though I told them to focus on another issue while reviewing production?
Can someone in IRS tell me about what it’s like? Signing, annual, and retention bonuses? Wlb? Which clients are most interesting?

Anyhow he is way out of my league and I respect him but I really don't know him as a person. So yeah, any suggestions so I can crush this crush?
