How do you conceal your morning sickness at work? I work in-house in an open floor plan. I'm required to be in office 3x per week. This morning I've been gagging a lot and feeling nauseous all around. I was remote yesterday and need to be remote Friday. On top of it, my boss and one of my teammates is going to be in town this week. I'm only 5 weeks along and not ready to disclose my pregnancy yet.

This is my second pregnancy, but I don't remember my morning sickness being this bad.

I ended up telling my work really early because my morning sickness was so bad. I didn’t want to but it was what it was, because I usually worked early mornings but couldn’t be doing meetings early in the day anymore. You could try going to HR directly and getting accommodations for working from home.

Have you tried unisom and b6 before bed? That was what my doctor recommended when I was having horrible all day nausea. It has helped a lot at least with my morning nausea. If it’s still bad after that, there are other prescription meds you can look into like Reglan and Zofran.

I was dying at work in first trimester and unisom and B6 did nothing for me. Only thing that helped was zofran but I could barely even drink water. I lost so much weight and had to sleep early every night. I’m sorry I don’t advise I just empathize with you.

First off, you are an in-house attorney and don’t have your own private office? That’s crazy to me.
Sorry you have to deal with that, and also that you have to deal with the morning sickness and contemplation of disclosing it before you’re comfortable doing so.
Hopefully you work with decent people and it won’t be an issue. You could always just say, “I’m feeling under the weather this week and need to work from home.” And leave it at that - no explanation, no nothing.

Even the president of our company has a cubicle. Nobody has a private office. We have rooms where you can make private calls but they're very egalitarian here.
I mean, even if I never came in, I don't think many people would notice because I don't directly work with anyone else in the office I'm assigned to. The team I'm on is spread across the East Coast.

First off, congrats! I was in the same-ish boat. I ended up telling people sooner than I wanted because I had really bad morning sickness that lasted all day for my first trimester.

For the short term, you could always lie and say that you’re taking new medication that is messing with your stomach. No one should push further. But I kept peppermints around all the time and they helped with some of the nausea. Ultimately though it was the violent retching that gave me away at 6 weeks.

I use preserved sour plums and ginger candies. I also use this thing called white flower oil and I put a dot on my temples and under my nose to curb the queasiness

Try ginger chews and cereal (the b6 in cereal is supposed to help). I've been there and like others unfortunately had to disclose early. I get waiting until after your review though. Just hide out during lunch etc as much as possible. Try a naseau band too. But ultimately you'll just have to grin and bear it if you don't want to disclose.

How did you tell your manager you’re pregnant? Did it affect pay/promos? And then, subsequently, how did you start letting colleagues know you’re pregnant? Feels awkward to just randomly drop the news in a meeting! I work remotely so it’s hard to tell by video :) I’m 21 weeks and feel like I’ve waited as long as I can to at least notify my manager. I was waiting to negotiate my salary for next year but per company trend that doesn’t get set until January (manager reviews are written in Dec).

Hello all! So I’m currently a Realtor in LA. Prior to being a Realtor, I was a store manager for a luxury store in Beverly Hills. I was kind of forced to get out of retail when the pandemic hit so my only option at the time was to jump in to real estate as I already had my license. I’ve been feeling unfulfilled with real estate and truly miss luxury retail. Does anyone have any referrals for luxury retail jobs in Los Angeles? I would love to hear from you! Thank you for taking reading my post!

Hi Fishes,

Is there a minimum tenure that one has to serve in ZS to ask for office transfers? (within India)

And how often do they get accepted and the general sentiment by the management when one asks for it?

Assuming that my team works from Pune (and i like the job scope) but would like to relocate to Bangalore office (hometown) once the team stabilizes and processes are in place.

Would love to talk with you on DMs if you have any experience similar to this.

TIA!
