36, I almost never wear makeup. I stopped after I had gotten a couple of hours of sleep and got up early to do makeup thinking I would look refreshed. I saw myself in the mirror in the bathroom and I just looked exhausted with makeup on. Decided to shift my priorities then. Focus on skin care and making sure my hair is always clean and in a neat bun.
I am mostly remote and only go into the office once a month. So I definitely have the benefit of being on camera versus being seen in person.
Right? And clothes, shoes, everything.
I’m in manufacturing. It’s of no importance to me, and it would actually get in the way of my performance if I “dressed up” to work. I dressed the minimum for my interview too (minimal work on hair/make up) to make sure I didn’t create a certain expectation about my appearance if I got the job.
I would rather save make up and the like for outside of work. This is like a shift in mindset for me, and helps me separate my work from my life because it’s something I exclusively save for my non work time. Plus, make up is expensive!
I’m married with kids and in my early 40s. I don’t care about “attractive” any more. I do aim to look clean and presentable, which at this point means ironed clothes, clean hair and varying levels of makeup. My makeup breakthrough was realizing it’s not an all or nothing decision - most days are somewhere in between based on the time I have to dedicate to it.
I went in to the office not looking my best and I had the worst day because of it. I was so self conscious and it killed my confidence.
Very important for everyone
There are multiple studies about this
Make up may or may not contribute to that
33 and it's also more important to me than I want/ expect it to be. I forgot to wear eyeliner or really anything other than tinted moisturizer one day and my hair was a mess, and I wanted to crawl under my desk all day. I got two comments that I seemed like I didn't feel well lol.
