Best WFH setups for a small space? I have a studio apartment and work fully remote. Looking for something attractive and space conscious- but needs to be comfortable/ergonomic enough to get me through busy season. Looking for a comfy chair that is good for my back and not an eyesore as well.
What office chair have you guys loved (without breaking the bank)? Need lumbar support for a bad back at a minimum
Best ergonomic chair for short (5’1) people? I’ve tried the knoll generation but felt that it wasn’t the right fit. TIA!
I have really bad tennis wrist from working, which has been inhibiting my lifting/tennis/golf playing. I use an ergonomic mouse (the Microsoft one PwC provides) and a mouse pad w/ a foam cushion. I’d use an ergonomic keyboard, but it’s only my right wrist that’s the problem. Anyone have any suggestions?? Massage, massage guns, etc. I’ll do anything
Ergonomic office chair around $200...recommendations? Definitely need something to help me sit straight up; lumbar support. Please and thank you!
Who is taking a home office deduction? What kind of amounts? If you decided not to- why not?
Costco Wholesale 🐠 here, I need an office chair for wfh (so at least 7-8 hours sitting/day) and I am a big dude as well. Saw 👇bad boy at a location here. Has anyone bought this or any other from Costco with good experience/happy with the purchase? Budget is upto $250.
Best ergonomic chair? Willing to splurge >$500
Best standing desk for home use?
Hello 🐟, so what’s the final verdict on a good sit/stand desk and an ergonomic chair? Started developing a backache and think I need to change my WFH setup. Thanks in advance.
Get the flexispot standing desk, or a really nice/large desk with a standing desk converter?
Does anyone share a home office with their partner? We're going to be living in a 2x2 and will be converting the spare bedroom into an office + guest bedroom -- does anyone have recommendations on how to optimize the space?
Tired of my old office chair and my new position will be fully remote. What is the best home office chair you’ve used for a reasonable price? Bonus points if I can use an EY discount.
Ways to improve focus please? Do ergonomic chairs work or is that just a marketing gimmick
Recommendations for an affordable (under $100) and smallish* standing work desk? My current one from Amazon is broken 😞 I would spend more money but it doesn’t make sense since I don’t have the space...
My home office is Gilbert but I am currently in the Midwest. Start date is September 7th. When should I start planning my move? HR really doesn’t know the game plan yet. I am thinking I should keep planning to move out there but everything seems to be up in the air at the moment. Also, anyone renting in the area?
How do you deal with back pain? I tried all things that could potentially help like getting lumbar support, ergonomic pillow, stretching steadily throughout the day etc. I'm seriously concerned if it will be what blocks me from moving forward in my career. Typical hours ranging 60 to 70 and i know my back will only keep getting worse during WFH and it's out of control. TIA.
How quiet is your home office environment? I am in a corporate practice and need quietness to read documents. I live in a courtyard facing apartment. Some people don’t mind noise but I constantly hear street noise, noise in the hallways and there are college students that live in the building. I complain about the noise all the time but my wife thinks I’m being unreasonable.
Is EY requiring people to move back to their home office city/areas by September? What does your firms hybrid model look like? What policies are changing for y’all? Is anyone giving stipend/expenses paid for WFH?
If my home office is NYC but I live in Michigan while working on a remote project how will I be taxed? My understanding is that “productive” time worked will be taxed by Michigan and “unproductive” time like PTO and bonuses will be taxed by both NYC and Michigan. Is this right and will I make more living in MI or NYC? (Ignoring cost of living)
Not fashion related but does anyone here have suggestions for an office chair that's both comfortable and stylish, preferably under $200? Thanks!
Which meme coin are you all gambling on next? How many millions or billions are you buying? I used to fantasize about traveling somewhere for work and never getting back on the airplane but now that my daydreaming has had to stay in my 'home office' this is all I have...
What is the most you spent on at-home office furniture and do you hate yourself for it now that you're returning to work?
Interested to know, did your firms gave you a credit (or wbs) to buy home office supplies? I feel like the Accenture one was pretty low...
My bank makes you fill out a form if you want to work in the office for each individual day. It’s largely empty from what I hear. What are the risks if I were to go in and “borrow” an office chair for my new apt? How about a monitor?
Joining RSM in a few weeks. Will I be able to expense a second monitor? Coming from big 4 where this was standard. Wanted to see if it’s the same thing here.
Interview tomorrow for a tax associate opening at RSM. Been working in a mid-size city (different firm) that is about 70 minutes from this new home office in a larger metro. How flexible is WFH or dual model going forward post Covid? Am interested in this position and going to tax, but not be able to relocate for family reasons. Don’t want to drive 700 miles per week M-F. What will dual model be like going forward? 1-2 times week, 4-5 month? Seems like tax was more flexible than audit pre-Covid
Oliver Wyman 🐠, what is the home office equipment reimbursement policy? Should I set up my new home office now or wait until my start date?
Anyone else starting at PWC in July? On a side note, anyone in at PWC in London know what work from home kit is given in terms of a monitor and office chair?
What monitors would you recommend for home office? I am about to buy one myself. I work in FDD. Do you guys recommend the ultra wide? Curve screen? freesync? And what definition is good enough ? I really do love Apple Retina display but the price.
Hump day wrist check; someone yesterday mentioned Microbrand Guy’s Matrix is fire, so you inspired me to wear it in my home office. What is everyone else wearing?
I’ve decided that if given the choice a hybrid situation is the best way forward for me. I’m thinking three days a week in my home office and two days a week on the couch in the den.
Any recommendations for a budget standing desk frame? Already have a nice table top I would like to use, but don’t want to break the bank on a frame to attach it to. Would like to stay under 250 but would go up to 300. Thanks in advance! Only wish is that it doesn’t wobble and is somewhat sturdy.
Recently got a new job, and it is 100% remote going forward. Any recommendations on specific home office essentials for my WFH setup??
Hi everyone! Hitting an all time rut with work motivation and burnout, with very long workdays (generally 7:30 am - 8 or 9 pm). Any tips that have helped anyone with this? Podcasts, books, songs or anything else that helps bring back the inspiration and drive? I am having a difficult time paying attention, being productive & just feeling overall detachment. Think there’s some low grade depression at play w/ the WFH situation & shorter/colder days, but I don’t have much control over my hours
Wifey and I are both remote this week (first time in a year the stars aligned). So thankful 😁
Please, no more virtual “happy hours” after 5 p.m. There’s nothin’ happy about it when we’re at home, reaching into our own fridges, forcing conversation on Zoom, and wishing we were outside doing real-life stuff. We’re no longer as desperate for connection; we’re virtually burned out.
Really proud to say am sticking to my intermittent fasting 18/6 in a month of wfh where it is very tempting to snack. Has been hard but one thing in life I feel I can actually control. We can do this!
Can you stress test my remote AD model: I'm in Asia, 12 hours ahead of US. I pick up night work and have it done the next AM. $85/hr or a WAY lower retainer. US citizen w/ 10+ years in NYC agencies.
Asking for a raise. I currently make under 45k. My rent is increasing this year, cost of living in my area is going up and I need a raise. Not want, but need. What is the best way to approach this conversation with my manager? Additionally, what’s a decent percentage to ask for? I want to ask for a higher %, because my employer will definitely push back. I’ve done nothing but work from home and save this past year. I don’t want to eat up what I’ve saved just because I won’t get a raise.
seen a bunch of other bowls do zoom drinks/hang outs. would that interest anyone? (maybe the last thing we need is another zoom call, but it's a pretty isolating time so wanted to get your thoughts)
Anyone at PWC right now? What’s the company like? Psycho hours? Using modern tech (slack, google sheets, lucidchart, github, etc)? Flexible for Mac/Linux? Bunch of ego maniac micro managers? I am considering an opp there, but had bad exp at KPMG, so I am cautious about going back to a b4.
Who else thinks that very few clients will want us back on site, and not in the same numbers if they do? I am anecdotally hearing from some of my former clients that they may be phasing out office space and allowing WFH for all employees. 💁🏼
Anyone ever uses a microphone that delivers podcast like quality to for Skype presentation? Would like to have some microphone example 😊
Seniors and above - how do you personally manage stress/workload and home life? Coworkers laterally and below don’t pull their weight and mgr/partners always look to me to pick up the slack.
When you WFH and then a partner asks to meet... *shaves in 30 seconds, throws suit on, sprints to subway*
What does your return to office plan look like? We’re thinking something like Tues-Thurs in-person, everyone remote M & F and flexibility whether you come in those 3 days. Thanks!
If remote is the future, how soon before most tech jobs are outsourced to India/Philippines/Eastern Europe and other places where the wages are substantially low? Why would companies still pay Bay Area salaries? Please don’t cite time difference and co-location as reasons bc they are simply not big enough.
Anyone else find it strange that Slack and Company has advised their employees that they are shutting the agency down on Friday, yet they still have available positions showing up online.
Anyone here done a zoom date and enjoyed it? Do you think you will ever meet in real life? It really doesn't appeal to me but seems like it's the only way to meet anyone rn
going back to school and leaving my marketing job been there for half a year (assistant role and i’ve been losing my hair there), I am planning to get a seasonal job...how do i set up my resume?
Does anyone know if BCG/ McKinsey London and Middle East offices are on a recruitment freeze/ still hiring consultants? Experienced hire post medical degree.
Advice on taking and passing the SPHR exam?
Starting my role in FDD soon any tips? Specifically asking because im a top performer in audit, early promoted to manager this year and was fortunate to keep my promotion and transfer to FDD as a manager. top notch excel/vba/macro and data skills with alteryx,BI and tableau. I know its going to be a big learning curve so want to make sure i don’t drown especially as a manager.
Any instances of regretting jumping ship rather than sticking it out and waiting longer for that promo/raise?
Why did Deloitte’s federal practice have layoffs? Given that the clients are large government entities. I can understand it happening in commercial but federal makes no sense
PwC folks, have any of you taken the xLoS Sabbatical before? I'm referring to the program where you get up to 16 weeks off at 20% of your salary.
Open to exploring my options for going indep. 8 year vet at EJ w/$150m AUM ($90m fee-based), & a CFP. Not unhappy @ EJ but not able to be a true planner. How do I compare all the options?
I’m starting a new job with a firm in 3 weeks. An in-house position I was previously very interested in posted an opening again. Is it worth even applying/going through the process? For context, in-house is the ultimate goal, but I don’t want to burn any bridges.
Anyone tried shopping Amazon on JetBlue? Seems like it would make sense to save Amazon purchases for when you’re flying JetBlue to maximize points? Assuming you fly them somewhat often
Are PE firms generally open to sponsoring / working with people on H1b? Or Is that a disadvantage
Am I understanding utilization rate correctly? It’s chargeable time over total time? Charged 40 hours and had 10 hours non-charge so my utilization is 80%? If so, wouldn’t it benefit me to understate non-charge hours so my utilization is higher since they only really care about chargeable time anyways? Charge 40 hours still but only put 5 hours non-charge for utilization to be 89% instead of 80%? Or am I misunderstanding how utilization works?
Please explain all you medical geniuses!
Any recommendations for good business books (preferably on general management or economics)?
Thinking of dipping my toes into real estate and wanted to see if anyone has any books/ podcasts/ courses or even any tips or advice that you wish you had when you got started? Goal is to diversify my investments past the stock market. Any help is appreciated!
