I have ~$50 left of my remote office setup stipend to blow. I already have a chair, desk, extra monitor, outlet extender, and headphones. Any other recs??
Recommendations for ergonomic office chair? Wfh is going to go on for awhile so want to invest. Budget is about $300
Please comment photos of your home office or WFH setup! I’m finally getting my own room to convert to a home office, but I’m sick of looking at unrealistic online photos for ideas. Don’t care if your space is organized or messy or whatever, I just need practical inspiration!
When your wife asked where you are and you send her a flight map from flighttracker and she thought you were downstairs in the home office.. And her response is, “Oh, Cool” like it’s no big deal...
Best decision I made first half 2020 by far is to wheel home that expensive office chair 6AM in the morning
Any tips on reducing/hiding cords in your home office? As you can see current set up the cords are bugging me. Fiancé loves the desk in the middle of the room.
Is sharing our Corona Command Centers still a thing? If so, mine’s ready for its debut... 43” 4K monitor on the left that can accept 4 unique imputs (I have my firm laptop with a client VDI and then two client laptops from different clients, so this is a game changer), 32” 4K display on the right for my MBP with similar functionality to the other display (picture by picture) but much better color accuracy. KVM switch capable of switching keyboard and mouse (and webcam and headset) between all 🤤
Thoughts about this desk? Found it new for $85. It's 47 x 15 x 30 inches. I want space for a laptop, second monitor, and writing space, all at once. Seems cheap, but am I missing something?
Need for travel has been one reason why some of our jobs could not be outsourced to remote delivery & low cost off-shoring. If travel is fully or >50% eliminated, it can be a real threat to management consulting as we know it. So there needs to be an “optimal ratio” of travel to client locations, home office, and WFH, to protect our consulting models. Since we need some face time with clients, and some interaction with colleagues, the optimal balance should be possible. Share your thoughts.
Let’s talk about something serious. I got the office chair below for a steal. Everything was great until my friend said did you check it for bed bugs? Contd
Are you spending more or less than you were pre-lockdown/stay-at-home? I feel like most people are saying they’re spending less, but I’m definitely spending more on food delivery, groceries, home goods, and an ergonomic WFH set up. 😥
Does anyone have a home office set up with multiple screens like at the one at work? Is it worth it? I’m not as productive working from home on my laptop and travel screen. Looking for a solution.
What are your thoughts on having to do remote learning from your classroom? Personally - my internet is much faster at my house and I don’t have any kids so no major distractions. I feel like I’d be more productive in my house with my Chromebook and an extra monitor but I certainly know that’s not the case for every or may I dare to say most people???
Would it be too much if I asked my parents if I can get a small work desk to keep at their house while I live there? I'd be so much more productive.
I’m at my lowest point in my drinking career. I have pints of cheap vodka stashed on multiple floors of my place to hide from my SO. I’ll claim to need to work late but just drink in my home office. I wasn’t this bad on the road. She did a work out with her trainer yesterday and I walked to the park to drink cheap beer on a bench by myself. I’m up for promotion this year (am terrified of getting it) and have no idea how I’ll balance my alcoholism with added responsibility
I finally decided to buy a monitor to set up my home office. Need advice for recommendations. Thanks so much and have a great weekend everyone!!!
Recommendations for a standing desk? Since this is gonna be a while a need to update my wfh set up. My back killing me 😑
Have a $1k allowance for home office setup. Any suggestions for what to get? I think I have everything I need but don't want this to go to waste, only stipulation is that a purchase has to "make me more productive"
Is the Herman Miller Aeron Chair worth it? What do /don’t you like about it ? I’m trying to find a comfortable ergonomic chair that goes high enough and will help reduce aches and pains
How do you decide on a location when moving in with an SO if you work in different areas? My home office is in NYC and she’s in LI and she’s pushing for LI, which would make my commute harsh
How are gaming chairs different from ergonomic office chairs? Something like this, anyone have experience?
How risky would it be if you were “wfh” but were actually overseas with your family and just working your home office hours right now?
Your boss from their spacious home office in their well lit house: “Turn on video during meetings, it helps us stay connected.” You, sharing a shoebox with your now-unemployed roommates:
I’ve seen the posts on ergonomic desks and chairs - I’m looking for actually aesthetically pleasing ergonomic sit / stand desk and chair options for my new zen office. Willing to spend $$$, any recs? Thanks!
Guys I am having a productivity issue. In the weekends I am laying in bed addicted to social media. On the weekdays, I am fine, doing work. I need to study for the gmat. Maybe a standing desk is the solution? I normally work outside my apartment at the client site or office.
I’m single & home office is in Seattle. I travel every week to mid west for projects for next few years. Can I just get an apartment in SF or LA where commuting would be easier? Still report Seattle 🛏
What purchases have you made that you truly made your money back on in the long term? Either cheap or expensive things. Looking for suggestions more like a Nest thermostat that lowers electric bill rather than things that are “worth it” like a good wireless router
Looking for recommendations for 1) Standing Desk and 2) Ergonomic office chair I’m 6’3” so any recs designed for tall people would be great!
Has anyone else seen that AdAge post where you match the home office to the industry leader? Not to be “that person”, but did anyone else find it out of control tone deaf?
Office Chair - Would love to hear your recommendations for a comfortable office chair. I have severe back-ache issue and been using my dining chair thus far but it’s high time I need to invest in one!
Any recommendations for a home office good chair ? Have some left over wellness subsidy I could use as well
What’s the one thing in your home office that you was a game changer other than the obvious (laptop, table, chair etc.)?
The tax deadline got me thinking about the 2020 tax year. If we’re working from home for the majority of 2020, is our home office expense deductible? If yes, how should we report it in the 1040?
Hi all! Hope everyone is holding up during the quarantine. There’s been some previous chatter regarding a Slack channel, so I created one. Hope to chat with everyone there. https://join.slack.com/t/phillyconsultants/shared_invite/zt-dfy83soz-xi9uAJTk1VObA3lRNUrd8A
Is anyone else falling for someone over this quarantine period purely through text and zoom calls?
When you say you need to drop for another call then dial into an empty Skype meeting so your status says "in a conference call" but really wanted to finish walking dead. #itsfriday

HELP. I’m trying to change an outlook meeting series to have a different meeting link than Skype. Just switching the link in the body of the email still allows people to click “Join Skype Meeting” because of course and I’m a newb. TIA
What is the worst excuse you have heard on zoom/Webex/Skype for people multi tasking and being out on the spot with a question... e.g. sorry my internet went flaky, can you please repeat your question again?
Uber driver started talking now about drones and how they watch every move you make. I rolled my eyes. Then he said they zoom into your hair follicles. And I became engaged because...Hair follicles??
Colleague to me in regards to a department meeting our boss set up “I don’t think I can join this zoom meeting, I’m trying to socially distance myself from you guys”
How should I tell my team I am pregnant? Context: I found out at the very start of the case and have kept it under wraps despite having to mute some conference calls to vom, etc. We have two weeks left and I plan to be transparent with staffing and future cases going forward, as I’m past 12 weeks, so it’s likely they would find out. I like my team but I don’t have a super close personal relationship with them & this is my first case with this group. Email? Slack message? Zoom call?
If you saw this on a coworker's Skype note/status thing, what are your immediate thoughts: Hakuna Matata! Que Sera, Sera. Personally, thought it was unique and made me want to watch the Lion King again. Going to ask him why he put it up but wanted to see what others thought while I'm waiting.
Any other younger working professionals fairly new (less than a few years) to the corporate environment have tips for this odd WFH posture?
Is anyone mandated to be back in the office anytime soon or is your agency wfh through the rest of 2020?
How do you dare calling yourself GoodApp, you are even far from the worst. Crap laptop, breakdown skype, canvas, email, pdf installment everyday, why not embrace better technology?
For everyone missing having a drink with friends at the local bar. We made a virtual one. Complete with Zoom backgrounds of your favorite bar(lounge, dive bar, etc) spotify playlists and trivia. Enjoy with friends https://blackjet.ca/sdsc/
Trying to roll off the project but director won't let me. Thinking of telling my director that I've been abusing prescription drugs to get me through the project. Maybe that would work. Thoughts?

Writers, do you feel like your cover letters have to be super clever? Seems like a catch-22 & I won't get an interview if it's too creative (not short or too much personality) or not creative enough.
My project team the night before a big deliverable is due. And then we all wake up at 4am to finish #misery #woke
What are acceptable answers to “Why are you leaving Big 4 for another Big 4?” My reasons are related to salary, promotion, and opportunity. How do I put a positive spin on my current form experience?
How to negotiate an offer? I have given a range for the base, but what else I should be asking for? Currently Sr 3 and going as a manager to another big 4.
