How much do strategy directors make these days?
Toronto ad fish 🤠 I’ve spent most of my career working as a copywriter in London (6 years here, 2 years Toronto) and the market is pretty different here. I’m planning on moving back home but wondered….how do you find work in Toronto? Agencies barely post openings, is the recruiter scene strong? Is it mostly who you know?
How’s Ogilvy these days. Heard the CCO left.

9 to 12 usually.
People usually only look at the the first couple anyway — and then check to see where you’ve worked and what awards you’ve won.
My personal feeling is 9 is ideal 12 is the limit. I always cringe at people with 30 projects in their portfolio. Especially senior people. Be selective, show your very best.

When you get more senior, you might want way more categories of work in your portfolio because potential clients might be looking at your site. They often want to see you have extremely specific, relevant category experience.
At a certain point, it’s not just about looking for your next job, it’s about attracting clients and talent to your company. So I think it’s fine for senior people to have a lot of work on their site. (It all needs to be good though. Ideally, award-winning too.)
