Recently started working remotely for a consulting firm in NY, currently living in TX. Single with no dependents, haven’t setup 401k or other contributions yet - my first paycheck was taxed at 38%. Because of my residence in TX, no NYC city tax was withheld (correctly). At 125k, 38% seems absurd! I checked multiple online calculators and even manually checked what my contributions should be against the tax tables - I should be closer to 30%. Does this check out? I hope it’s a clerical mistake
How much $ is sitting in your 401k today?
PwC plz help. I can't load benefits express to figure this out myself. What's our 401k match?
Campus hire. Few months late but enrolling in my 401K and going to do a Roth, as well. I keep seeing that you should “maximize” both. What does that mean? Is there a calculation or common principle?

Dyscalculia-c here, so request no judgement on question. If I have 10k in 401kA and 20kin 401k2 , will I make more in growth if I combine them into a single 401k? A friend was trying to push this logic but it’s beyond me.
Age 35, salary is $160K but due to poor financial planning/management in my 20s, I have not been able to save as much as I maybe should have by now. $52K in liquid cash, $54K in 401K+IRA, $30K in pension - that’s it. Any advice from folks who may have been in a similar situation and got in better shape financially from here on?
PwC vs Deloitte? Let’s say Deloitte pays me higher base, etc. I feel like pwc has done a better job at digital upskilling and providing resources for learning. Anyone have insight on other benefits of one over the other? What other angles would you look at besides money and how good the specific practice is?

My new employer is ready to file gc (eb2) for me based on approved i-140 I have from previous employer. I know that we have to file for lca etc. again and given last year’s uscis visa bulletin when eb3 dates moved ahead of eb2 I am wondering if I should tell them to wait until September/October when new bulletin comes to adjust the category eb2 vs eb3 then? Does Lca depends on eb2/3 category or is it independent? Will it be a mistake on my part to wait for bulletin if lca has nothing to do ebs?
New coach or brush off? Story: Newish hire who previously worked in area "A" pre-Covid that has seen less business. My current project is Covid related and sits in a different unit, say "B." (B for booming practice) My coach sits in "A" and meets with "B" leadership telling them "they didn't know if "A" would work out/be a fit and they're trying to see if other things will fit...." Wtf? Your "A" business is down 10-20% given covid and suddenly I'm not working in "A" because of "fit"?

Hi All, a slightly tricky question on when I can move to US - wife is in US and expected to have her PERM / I-140 approved in 3 mos. I am currently working outside US and have a valid H-4 visa. I was thinking of traveling to US when she has I-140, apply for H4 EAD, go back to my country and continue work. Once have H-4 EAD, leave job and move to US. Is this feasible or do I have other options so that I can reunite with wife asap after I-140 but also not have a big unemployment gap. I am ROW
