I am a middle school (6th) teacher. I’ve noticed a lot of people in the younger generation seem to struggle a lot.

I want to spend this next year making sure that my students are not turning into ChatGPzombies.
They will learn: how to hand write essays, write a letter/email, read a book (for fun). We’ll work on Taking notes. Maybe we’ll even practice how to use a dictionary and thesaurus.
What ELSE should I make sure my students don’t leave my class without knowing?

What's the point in teaching them to hand write anything? Your class will probably be the last time they will ever have to do it for the rest of their lives. Why not instead focus on teaching them how to use technology to their advantage? Teach them how to use AI to help them organize their lives instead of asking it random facts that they'll forget before they stop scrolling. Handwriting is no longer a relevant skill. Let's teach kids how to use AI instead of being replaced by it. That's how education can remain relevant to students, not by teaching a dead skill.

You must be young. Handwriting, especially cursive has been scientifically proven to increase brain matter. It makes students concentrate and be more intentional.

Work on communication skills, especially speaking skills. As an employer, many candidates lack the ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner in particular during interviews.

Hey folks, hope you’re all having a not-so-blue Monday. I’m new to EY and was wondering if the firm does annual raises? I joined as an SC and wondering if my base salary will be adjusted annually by a fixed % for inflation or a variable % based on performance? Or if the only way to increase my base pay is to get promoted to manager? Thanks for your help!
