I don't know about Altria, but just as a general concept it's often difficult to establish any meaningful contact on LinkedIn. People have been burned by so many spammers and scammers that they just tune out to approaches from someone they don't know. The most effective networking happens in real life, so perhaps you should reach out to professional acquaintances and see if they know someone who knows someone.
Networking I don’t think will help. Just keep applying to the open positions if there are any near you. Check the website frequently. There’s always open sales positions but they’re all over the US.
Who are you trying to network with? HR people or just general employees? I've had people reach out to me for the company I'm working for and try to get information about finding a job, but I have nothing to tell them besides just apply. If you're just trying to talk to current employees who aren't in hiring, it might be seen as a little bit unprofessional versus just going to HR.
Try ex-employees — they’re way more honest. LinkedIn messages vanish, but alumni Slack or Reddit threads spill the real tea.
