Hi Fishbowl Friends! I’m looking in to starting a masters program in 2023. Background on me - I’ve been in HR for a little over 4 years now and earned my SHRM-CP last spring. Looking for more ways to improve.

Is the CPA designation worth it? For me it would take me 1 year of PREP courses and 2 years of PEP until i can write the CFE. And I am 27 years old right now. Also wondering if it would be crazy to pursue the CPA while learning how to code to be a developer as well?

Hello everyone! I am looking for advice. I am a C&B Team lead ( about 15 years of experience) but all my experience was in Russia. Now I got married and moved to UK , plus we have got a baby in 2019 so now I am looking for a job in UK having 3 years of career break. Although, I am getting CIPD lvl 7 diploma this year. I am not ready for team leader's role now . So my question is about HR area, where could I find a job with my only Russian experience? HR generalist, C&B analyst, HR BP, recruiter?

Planning to take the CIPP and CIPM. Will be doing self-study. What is the “book” everyone refers to for studying? Is it just the “study guide” the IAPP sells? Help!!! Struggling to complete my degree. I’ve been in a teaching role at my school since the beginning of the year. I’m at nearly 90 credits of college course work complete. I’m in Texas and there aren’t many options that can get me closer to certification. Any help or advice? I don’t want to lose the role I’m in. It’s literally what I’ve been groomed to do for the past two years. (& yes I’ve been in school during that time.)

After 6 years of temporary contracts and unstable situations, I find my dream job in my dream company. All of a sudden the world goes upside down and I get laid off. I start sending hundreds of applications, with only 2 recruiters getting back to me to say I don’t have experience for the job (this is how it works in Italy). Add a terrible health situation in my family and it seems there’s no light at the end of the tunnel. Ugh. 😞

Today, I got a written offer letter and I am not satisfied with the bonus, how can I negotiate with hr? Ps:before they send me offer letter, I already told them the base I want, and they offer me the base that I want now. But we didn’t discuss the bonus.

A month ago I was given a promotion w/o a raise, and my new responsibilities were announced to the whole office. I’ve been persistent in following up to discuss salary and it’s always a song and dance about “benchmarking exercises”. The latest is that they “may” be able to offer 4-5% since it’s “a promotion but not a level change”… but no sense of timing commitment and frankly, less money than I know I’m worth. Really like the work but it’s crushing me. Any last ditch negotiation ideas?
