FACTS!! How hard is it to plan ahead to accommodate everyone? They act like they’re the only person we work for 🫠

PREACH. I was so adept at putting out fires and expecting yelling phone calls the day of deadlines because “they” forgot.

I always schedule a due date for whatever it is for it to be to me. I also have reminders set a few days before the actual due date. I also ran a report of all deadlines every Monday for each one of my attorneys. Each of the teams I worked with also tried to have a meeting every other week to discuss the status of our cases and deadlines. I carried a heavy caseload so this was the best way to keep me and my entire team on track without having those "OH crap" moments.

Yeah I always tell my paralegals that the actual due date is 3 days before lol

I’ve tried setting “get this to me” deadlines.

No, it’s not actually due for 3 more days, but I need it before then!

Doesn’t work.

I’m still getting documents at 4:55 the day it is due.

Hey all - first year associate here… I’ve met my hours requirement for this year (requirement is 1900 and am currently at around 2050 with billable hours - approx. 2160 with non billable admin hours) and I am just tired. Is it okay to just “disappear” during the holidays (thanksgiving week, week of Christmas) and let partners and senior associates know I am not available? At this point I don’t care about making more money - I just want to sleep, read a good trashy book, and cuddle with my dog.

Hi there!

I’m trying to get my grandmother (81yrs old) travel medical insurance for a trip to the US, where I live. She’s in good health and lives in South Africa. I can only find travel insurance options for those who are aged 80 or below.

Does anyone know of any companies that offer senior travel/medical insurance (81+) or have any other recommendations? Or does she just come without travel insurance?

Any advice would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance!

Hi everyone. Is it typical for the attorney to take credit for the work a paralegal does? An example: I gave some ideas about deposition questions and some observations I made (I was asked about giving suggestions) regarding a witness and the attorney mentioned that he’s the one that had these great questions/observations. Zero credit or thank you for the work I did.
