I came across a poll about side hustles the other day, and it really got me thinking - do any of you have a side hustle? I’ve been toying with the idea of finding a legit way to earn a little extra during my downtime, but it’s honestly overwhelming. There’s so much out there, and a lot of it seems… questionable. I’d love to hear what’s worked (or hasn’t) for you—any tips or experiences you’d be willing to share?

I like to do DoorDash on the side with my husband. We don't make a lot of money when you factor in gas and car maintenance, but it's kind of a fun thing that we do together. It's our hobby to laugh about the various customer scenarios and restaurant interactions we encounter. Plus the money isn't nothing, we usually make a little bit after we deduct all the taxes and gas expenses.

That sounds like such a fun way to spend time together! Even if the money isn’t huge, having a shared side hustle that brings laughs and good stories is priceless. Plus, every bit of extra income helps!

I've done some side projects at times, doing some database projects for a friend's business. I always knew the work was temporary, and it wasn't particularly difficult. I think I'd have a problem doing a side job if I didn't know it would be ending at some point. And, obviously there are potentially serious issues with conflicts of interest with your "real" job.

That makes a lot of sense - knowing there’s an end date definitely helps keep side projects manageable. And being mindful of conflicts with your main job is so important. It sounds like you’ve found a good balance with those short-term gigs!

I have a baking business on the side which I would love to make part time with finance being part time as well at some point! My partner buys and resells on Vinted too which works really well!

hat sounds like such a great setup! It’s inspiring that you’re turning your passion for baking into something more and aiming to balance it with part-time finance work. I love baking too, though not quite at a sellable level yet lol!

Questionable is right, every single part time WFH role I've come across has been a scam. All I've done is pet sit through Rover when I have the spare time. Getting paid to hang out with dogs is the best, even if it isn't exactly making me rich.

Pet sitting sounds like an awesome side gig! Getting paid to spend time with dogs is a win in my book. I’ve heard that dog walking is one of the highest-paid side hustles in some places.

I am seeking new employment, I was recently laid off due to lack of work. I would very much appreciate any leads. I have a Bs in Construction Management and over 15 years experience with Revit and AutoCAD and 7 years of plumbing design. I have solid references and impeccable work ethic. I truly enjoy what I do. Working remotely the last three years has become a way of my life and supports our current situation well, therefore I am seeking a similar role but will consider other opportunities.

What were your raise percentages in 2022?
I’m very disappointed with my 2.5% raise considering inflation, my good review, and all the extra effort I put in this year for a good raise. Should I ask for more?
