So are the layoffs at Deloitte over ?

What's going on at The Martin Agency? Lost Walmart, closed the NY office, lots of layoffs. Are things looking better?

I was going to hand in my letter of resignation today. But before I can do that, I got laid off. Woo-Hoo! Hello, severance!

Did BCW NY just layoff it’s EA staff?! Seeing a bunch of these names on Connect and very upset that great people were let go!

We have a big project going on and I am the only point person(initiate it, did lot of work, and knows the deets well), seems like my mgr wants to get a headcount. But I want to use this opportunity to get promoted, how can I get this across? Mgr is new(they fired my old mgr), mgr’s mgr is new too(re-org). So not sure if I should/can make a case, or how.

Got laid off and I am struggling to find a job + when I melt down thinking I won’t find anything any time soon even though I love the ad industry, my partner suggest to switch fields. Anyone going through the same?

We are currently pregnant and at 20 weeks. My husbands was about to tell his manager about the pregnancy and paternity leave plans but then started to hear some layoff rumors which now seems inevitable. His project also did’t get extended (totally unexpected) and his team is getting released at the current client. Now he is unsure of if and when he should let his manager know. He does not want it to backfire on him. Suggestions?

What do you do on the rare occasion when you have virtually no work?

Summer was busy with lots of long days and a handful of weekends. But I’ve had essentially zero to do all week.

Part of me feels guilty but then again I don’t because I don’t think my agency feels guilty for the long days/weekends.

On the other hand, we just had a round of layoffs so who knows if there are more coming down the pipeline.

Today’s headline: 3.9% unemployment.

How far do you live from your office / where you practice? I’m a solo with a land use / zoning practice. I’ve always lived in the same city I worked. Unrelated to Covid, my city has moved all filing and permitting to online systems which means I only have to be in person about 4-6 days a month. I’m thinking about moving about 40 minutes outside the city (and potentially as much as 1.5 hrs from evening meetings). Reasonable? Way too far?
