I'm 53 this year. I'm still the best developer on any team I've been on and outperform my reports collectively by 2-3x. Part of this is due to the benefit of having focused on both the skill side (tactical) and the design side (strategic).
However, I find more and more job opportunities decide to pass even when they should be shoe-ins based on the feedback during the interviews as well as job requirements.
So... besides going full time management, what other options remain for highly skilled professionals who haven't lost their touch to leverage our skillsets and abilities and realize some commensurate value from the market?

I've experienced similar (what appears to be ageism) in IT when it comes to seeking employment. With the experience/skills you have why not hang your own shingle as a freelancer / consultant. There are many gig websites that open up global work.
A guild of senior IT professionals offering IT service wouldn't be a bad idea if you want to take on the world. Imho.
