I had to train my replacement while still doing my own job and somehow, I’m the one who got laid off. It was like watching the ax swing in slow motion. I kept telling myself maybe it wouldn’t happen, maybe I was being paranoid. But nope, my access was cut a week later. Has anyone else been through this weirdly cruel dance? How do you make peace with being phased out by the very person you trained?

I haven’t but companies usually don’t care about that stuff when doing layoffs. Chances are the person you trained made less than you

Yep, years ago when the dot com bubble burst. Not only did I train my replacement, I trained a whole teams replacement. Once the new (offshore) team hit their first major goal, both me and the team (diff from the one I was in, but related) were laid off.

Turned out they did me a huge favor, but it was a bitter pill at the time.

Was your replacement from an outsourcing firm?

In my case, yes. They were in Eastern Europe and I’m guessing the pay scale was a small percent of what they paid us in the US.

Sorry to learn about it!

Hi, Anyone working in Virtusa with BT as Client?

I applied to a job at KPMG and did the first two rounds of interviews, general interview, then case study and competency. Never before have I had such a positive feedback at the end of an interview of the 2nd, both said really like me, I did well etc.
It's now been 3 weeks since the interview and I still haven't heard back from the team other than the odd HR email saying they are following up with them. Is there something going on internally, I.e hiring freeze in the London office atm?
