How should I respond to comments like “Excuse his language” or “Careful there’s a lady present” that are made in meetings where I’m the only woman on the call? There are several senior client stakeholders for a client in a traditionally male industry, and I’m the only woman, only consultant, and certainly the most junior (age and role). Comments are in response to swearing or saying things like “dicking around”. Should I even respond besides politely smiling?
